Are the first generation DA Griz barrels (12.5") too thin to be threaded for Remchokes?

Yes, too thin for Remchokes.

I believe Tru-Chokes can be done however because best of my understanding they are made for thin walled barrels.

Pretty sure that's your only option.

Check your barrel too. Some of the barrels the bore isn't concentric with the outside
