I just got a STI Trojan .45ACP and tested it with a load of 6.0 grain Winchester 231 with a bullet weight of 200 gn.

Every round I fired, I had to press the Thumb Safety down a bit so that I could pull the trigger again, or else I could not fire the next round. It seemed the trigger safety worked okay.

Any idea what was causing this and how to fix it? Much appreciated.

OS,

How did the safety move up if your thumb was resting on it??

Seriously, it should stay in place even with an improper grip, and I like a firm click when a safety is either up or down. That can be fixed. Deepen the divot in the front of the safety slightly. Your load is a bit hot - we use 5.7 grains for an IPSC Major load - and of course that can contribute, too, as you are probably knocking it upward during recoil.

One of the things I routinely do when prepping STI's I sell is to make sure the safety (and everything else) functions properly... 8)

Enjoy the gun! It's a good one.

Thanks, Gunnar, my thumb was not resting on the thumb safety when I shoot, that will be too new a style to shoot <GRIN>.

I shot like I do with any other guns, but that thumb safety moved upward a little every time and I had to press it down so that I could pull the trigger again.

I'll try a 5.7 grains load to see whether this improves, then deepen the divot or may be install a recoil buffer to reduce the recoil.
