Hi folks,

I’ve always disliked the short and knobby Remington 700 handle. I much prefer the graceful model 70 round knob. I do have one rifle with a threaded handle but it’s a bit too tacticool for a classy hunting rifle. I’m considering sending one off to Accu tig to have the Holland’s handle tig welded. I would like to know if anyone else has done something similar.

Cheers

I have seen a R700 handle altered by cutting and welding.
Keep in mind that the factory handle is brazed to the body. The welder cannot let too much heat run up the handle.

Sometimes the 700 factory handle has casting/forging voids and flaws when you cut or grind into them when altering for a screw on knob.

I’ve seen Larry’s build and what a fun journey. I’m thinking of doing this on a stainless RR serial with the notoriously poor primary extraction. I think the issue the the shape of the cam on the handle and the axial position of the handle. Both can hopefully be solved with a new handle and 250$. I know that’s a insane amount to just replace a handle, hobbies are hobbies and a unique build is worth it.

Yes,I had my Rem 700, 30.06 bolt knob cut off and a larger, extended knob welded on, got it done for hunting while wearing gloves.

OP,
Quite simple for some.
Rocket Science for most.

No offense
BUT
In our Demoncratic/Socialist/Communist Party's agenda that WE are dealing with

I elect to pass locating, timing,TiG welding a D.Holland bolt handle to CA.

No worries Dan,

Being in Canada, we do have way less options when it comes to Gunsmithing and parts. I got to make some more friends in the states and have them help me out haha.

Does this mean if I can ship and receive with a Montana address, you will be okay with performing this work? No need to deal with the border.
