I recently purchased an SA fiberglass stock off EE. The receiver drops in without a hitch but once the trigger group is fully locked in, the action jams once it's pulled halfway. My barrel was indexed at M14Doc's Port Alberni clinic so I don't think that the barrel indexing is the issue here. I am planning on shaving down the stock but would like to hear other opinions on what the deal might be or what needs to be done.

Cheers!

If I'm not mistaken, the SA stocks won't fit Norinco receivers without some kind of modification. I am sure someone can chime in here with the solution.

Yep some areas need to be fitted in order for it to work. Please check previous post about this question or the stickies at the top of the forum.

I read the stickies but the only thing I found was the popsicle stick mod. I might have missed it though. 8 )

Anyways, I put some white grease on the inside of the op rod and I put the rifle back together. After cocking it a few times I found that the stock is actually a little thicker right below where the op sits once it's cocked. All of the grease rubbed off on one particular spot which, after comparing it to my Norinco stock, is a bit thicker.

Here is a pic of one of the popsicle stick mods I did , it is the front inside section where that work is done to prevent the op rod guide locking pin from backing out .
If your receiver sits flush above and it clears the modded area it as it drops into place it dosnt sound like thats the problem.Try and take a few pics .
Were you able to do a trigger asssembly safty test on it ?

To get my Shorty from Canam to fit in a USGI I had to remove quite abit of material from under the trigger pads and the trigger guard area , I found the receiver dimensions different than on my 2 polytechs or 2 other Norinco,s that I tried

You could also buy a new M1A connector pin from Brownell's, they are longer and will solve your problem and IMO the proper way...

However, people should know about slight diameter difference which requires another facet of fitting as well

I thought this thread said "Tight Sock", so I had to read the title twice.

Isn't there a piece that brownell's sells that can fix this issue? I'm just spewing something I heard at a gunstore, but hope this helps.

Thanks everyone! I have zeroed in on the problem. Once the trigger guard is clamped in, the op rod, halfway through the pull, rubs up against the stock. It seems to be due to the stock being just a little wider in that particular spot.
I have yet to talk to Chalkriver for some extra info but it seems that that is all there is.
