So I removed the firing pin to clean up all the gunk and dirt from my firing pin yesterday but now the assembly seems loose when its back in place. I'm thinking a small shim of some sort may need to be put on the back of the bolt between the body and the cocking/safty assembly. How do I correct this properly?

Forget about your perception of looseness for a minute...

Does it #### and does the safety work properly? Yes? ... then does it fire when it is supposed to? Yes?... then you are trying to fix something that isn't broken. You say accuracy and trigger pull are affected... explain how the accuracy is affected when you haven't even shot it after cleaning it.

Shim in a bolt assembly are never a fix. Heavy grease on the shroud threads may be required for it to feel bette

Upon closer inspection I realized that the bolt body and firing assy. actually thread and unthread them selves from one another during operation. Then I realized that all that grease, dirt and crud took up space in the threaded section....so I applied a thick molly grease and every thing is now back to normal.

As far as the acuracy goes it was a observed perception not an actual test.....kinda like when you over tighten or under tighten action screw and the bolt binds or the action wobbles in the stock....no test firing is required to know that accuracy just went out the window.
Same logic is applied here. If sear engagement or angle is not consistant due to a wiggly part then how can trigger pull be a constent?
So you were 50% correct
