I'm very very close to buying a new Tika T3. The rifle I'm looking at is chambered in .223. Rate of twist is 1 in 8", Stainless Bull Barrell. Beavertail foreend and synthetic stock.

Does anyone have one of these yet? How good are they?

The faster rate of twist mean I can shoot heavier bullets more accurately, but is there any downside?

David,

The 1-8 twist makes this rifle quite versitile as it can shoot heavy 80 grain VLD's and it will also shoot 50/55 gr projectiles. It will spin them fast, and if you shoot thin skinned Blitz types you could possibly experience bullet failures if you drive them real fast.

In a factory barrel the extra spin will not likely lead to any noticable loss in accuracy.

A case full of N550 behind an 80gr VLD makes a viable 1000 yard load, and you can plink at 200 yds with a 55gr bullet and H322 powder.

A new guy in our club has one and I was quite impressed with the way it shot right out of the box. He was wacking it pretty good at 600m when I was watching. Of course a good stock would help.

I just picked the T-3 up in the 222 and it is a tack driver right out of the box.
I am fooling with it on the weekend.
My buddy has the Tikka T-3 exact Cartridge you want 223, and shoots .4s and 3s with benchmark powder and 53 g SMKs FBs.
Sako barrels are no doubt accurate.

I have a Tikka T3 Tactical in .300 win mag and it is one of most accurate guns I have every shot and I have shot a lot:D
