So I have a vision for a new rifle build, but before I proceed I'm hoping for some confirmation from you Tikka owners.
Here's the back story...
I have a tricked out Rem 700 that I use for F Class FTR... Since I have a long throat for the 185 Bergers, I cannot actually eject a loaded round. It's longer than the ejection port of the short action Remmy.
In retrospect, I should have used a long action Remmy. Oh well...
Now.. the rifle I'd like to build would be based on a Tikka 223 but before I proceed I'd like independent confirmation that I will not run into the same problem.
The load I would like to run in the Tikka 223 would have a loaded round overall length of 2.5 inches using 80 grain SMKs.
I know the standard Tikka mags cannot hold or feed such a round, but there are AI style mags that can, if I run one of the chassis systems.
So my question to you guys is twofold
1) Can a Tikka 223 eject a live round with an overall lenth of 2.5 inches?
2) Can you actually feed a 2.5 inch round into a 223 Tikka from an AI style mag reliably?
I know I could just use a Rem 700 for this but I'd rather use the Tikka if possible.
The ultimate would be to use a Cadex action but they don't make a 223 bolt face at this time.
