Im considering having a .260 stw build and im just wondering if a tikka receiver is ok to use as a base platform for this gun? Does anyone have a .260 stw? if so what is a good bullet/gr to use? I dont know too much about precision guns so if you have any suggestion or unbias comments id love to hear from people who know. Thanks alot.

I think you're beat on action length before you start, but I'm not a real Tikka guy. My take on the 6.5 STW is it comes down to how highly you value high BCs with bulletweights on the light end of the 7mm STW range.

You need a 375 H&H length action. The 6.5 STW (a more common name for it) is based on the 8mm Rem Mag vase necked down to 7mm (7mm STW), which was then necked down to 6.5 mm (there are also 25, 30, 33 and 6mm versions). If you want to drive high BC 6.5 bullets at high velocities it will work very well. It's hard on barrels though, so not a high volume gun. - dan

Not to throw cold water on your idea but you'd probably be better off with a 7mm Remington Mag. More action choices and several very good bullets all with longer barrel life and easier to obtain brass.
