Just curious if there is any one out there using a load similar to this. Hodgdon has max load at 40.5 grains. Wondering if anyone has pushed this load a little hotter with good accuracy. Not going to have enough time to Work a load up at this time. Thanks guys.

I you don’t have time to work up a load then I suggest buying factory ammo for the time being , especially if you are thinking of going “hotter”.

No better way to ruin a rifle or a person.

Another guns perfect load could be another’s demise.

Always practice safe reloading.

This is very good advice...:)

Thanks for the advice. I probably didn’t word it properly. But was just looking for some recipes or some experience from other people that have used this combination.

Experience says work up a load. ;)

It is going to be very difficult for someone to give you their load recipe that works in their firearm.Every rifle is different and responds differently to various loads and charge weights.

Not to be a #### but it is very foolish to just load a "hot" load that you didn't work up in your rifle yourself.

How do you know it won't be piss poor for accuracy, or have high pressure?

Remember where liabilities are, " Oh I used this combination so and so told me to use!" , now so and so is hiring a lawyer.

I don't load for the Tikka in 7-08, but I do load for a Rem Mod 7, chambered for that cartridge.

I find that H414 and W760 seem to be the best for the 150 grain 7mm bullets, in my rifle. NOT MONOLITHICS

I really like this little cartridge a lot. It's parent case is extremely versatile for all sorts of customizing.

My rifle has an after market, 24 inch barrel and will give me close to 2700 fps with 47 grains of w760 over CCI 250 primers.

By your question, I am assuming your rifle is a Tikka T3, which is a very strong rifle.

My load is right on maximum as far as the manuals go but it's very accurate, again in my rifle.

Several of my friends use this load in their 7-08s. They all claim accuracy is better than any factory load they've tried. Pressures are in the 50K CUP range.

I haven't made any changes to this load or the bullets I use with it in over 20 years, It's not broken, so doesn't require fixing.

H4895 is on the fast burning side of things for optimum velocity for 7mm-08 150gr

Varget would be better, and if you're chasing velocity - try RL17 or StaBALL 6.5, Win 760 or H414

I’d add H4350 to the mix. That has been my favourite.

A little off topic but I think there must have been changes made to H414. I get substantially lower velocities than I should and the max load is way over pressure.

Thanks so much guys. Appreciate the help. I do have Varget. I’ll have to go and see what the manual says about it. Again. Wasn’t trying to be unsafe. Was just here seeing what you guys had for some recipes.

That could be attributable to a fast lot of H414 or your particular rifle????

Definitely not the rifle as I’ve tried H414 in 3 different 7/08s. I would have to guess there has been changes made to H414 over the years.

Another member on here (gstprecision) was using 42gn and getting 2550fps in a 26” barrel with a 162 eld. He also couldn’t get the listed velocities without pressure issues.

Thanx for this. I've been using a batch of 760, that likely has a dozen different lots blended together. As such, my powder is extremely consistent.

H414 and W760 are basically the same powder. Since they are now both being made by Hodgdon's, it's quite likely there have been some changes.
