I have been looking at a Tikka Battue, and I have been thinking about buying one. I just want to know if it is possible to mount a scope on it without removing the sights?

Do you have to use mid to high mounts??

Is there anyone out there who has used see-thru mounts??

Any pics of there Battue with a scope mounted would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If i remember correctly, sealhunter has one in 7mm-08 and he can hit targets out to 400 yards with it. I'd ask him what his set up is like if i were you. He seems like a pretty nice guy so i'd imagine he'll help you out. Good Luck.

Yes you can, I have one in 308.

I also have one in 308 and put a Leupold 1X4 scope on it. I didnt remove the front sight, just in case the scope craps out on a hunting trip. I can see the front sight as a "ghost image" at lower magification but never causes any problem. Its my main deer hunting rifle and used it to qualify at 300 yards at my club using the SA 7.62 X 51 ball ammo.

Thats pretty interesting. So your saying that if I were to scope it, then the sights do get in the way, but they are'nt really noteceable??

I like scopes to be lower rather than higher from the barrel so I probably have a low or medium mount on it. I shot rifles with see through mounts and found the scope way too high. I hunt with the 1X4 scope on 1.5 and dont really notice the front sight. On 4 power at a 100 yard range I cant see it at all. The rifle in the photo still has the sights on it.

Why yes,....I am a pic Whore! :D

Below is my Battue...It's a Sako with an AII action,...
As far as the setup with the quarter rib, sights and such...I have no idea how similar it is to the Tikka Battue, for all intention purpose I'd say form my limited experience with the Tikka that they are very much the same.

I have a 1.5 - 5x Leup on mine. I believe a 2 -7x would also be very nice..with a straight objective...(a non bell, bell.... :D)

Below is my 30/30 with see thru mounts...

As for see thru mounts, I have always used them on my 30/39 and to 250 yrds i have never had a problem with the height or setup...

Maybe not the best bet for longer ranges you may shoot with the 7mm-08...

Just have one more question about anyone who owns a Tikka lite Battue.....Are the fiber optic sights any good??? Has anyone thought about using their Battue without a scope? and if so, how far of a shot would you feel comfortable taking??

I know some people may think that the fiber optic sights look a little bit wierd, but I actually think it makes the gun look pretty cool, and they look very functional.

I have the old model .308 Battue( before it was called T3 with walnut stock) that doesnt have the fiber optic sights. The iron sights are great and line up faster than a ghost ring. I have seen the fiber optics and at one point I wanted to swap mine out for them. That was until I saw the price. I havnt mounted a scope on it yet due to not knowing what height of rings to buy. I never really thought about getting a safari type low power variable with no objective bell.
