I have also been looking at the Tikka T3x rifles as a possible purchase in 6.5 Creedmoor but I'm finding the specifications a little confusing maybe I'm not reading the tables right on the 2019 models

Tikka T3x Lite TFTT63LL103 6.5 caliber 22.4 inch barrel 6.5 lbs

Tikka T3x Super Lite TFTT63R103 6.5 caliber 22.4 inch barrel 6.5 lbs

You would think the Super Lite model would weigh less than the Lite model ? Have I missed something here ?

If any of you guy's have one of these models tell me how you like it please !
Thanks !

I've had both of those rifles (not in 6.5) and the only difference is the barrel fluting. I did also read that there was some slight variance in the stocks but never had the two together to compare.

I'm pretty sure that Tikka is one of the manufacturers that just lists a weight for the model, without taking into account the difference between various chamberings? If that's the case, a Superlite in, for example, .223 might well weigh even more than a Lite in .338. The flutes might not remove more metal than the smaller bore diameter adds back.

Don't know for sure, just something to perhaps look into further. I always take manufacturer's specs with a heavy grain of salt.

Edited to add: Forgot to mention that these were terrific shooting rifles and I was well pleased with all of them.

Thanks for the reply John ! Don't know why I did not see the Super Lite had a fluted barrel !

Would the 2019 Tikka T3x Lite in 6.5 Creedmoor be any different than the 2018 model ?

I think the 2019 Tikka Lite has an improved stock, partial fiberglass and it has foam inserted in it , steel recoil lug, optional grips ,fore stock and behind the trigger ,wider ejection port .

Did the 2018 model have all this ?
Thanks !

As far as I know, the improvements you are describing are an upgrade that Tikka did on the T3 series, which they then named the T3x series. I don't believe any of them are specific to the lite or super lite model. It was more of an overhaul and upgrade on the T3 series of rifles across the platform.

Thank You Todd B ! Do you know what the character differences are to the 2019 model's stock is ?
I mean how would you know you were buying a 2019 ?
Thank You !

It would be stamped T3x on the receiver, and stickers on the stock saying T3x. Production would be from 2017 or later

Modular grip, softer recoil pad, larger ejection port, steel recoil lug, metal bolt shroud, no grooves in the top of receiver

There's a 3 oz weight difference between the two, assuming both guns are chambered for the same cartridge.

Thanks again ! I just went and looked on Tikkas website and I'm not seeing the T3x Lite Stainless in 6.5 Creedmoor ? Is the 6.5 Creedmoor not available in the T3x Lite Stainless ? If the Stainless Lite is available in 6.5 Creedmoor can you get with a 22 inch barrel ? Sorry for all the questions !
Thanks again !

I'll just mention that I was told by the Cabela's gunshop here in Winnipeg (I know, I know...) that the Superlite is no longer available in Canada. The guy swore up and down that meant anywhere in Canada, not just at Cabelas's.

So, if you decide to go with the Superlite, double check to make sure that you are getting the newer version rather than just new old stock without the improvements. If everything else were equal, I'd go with the Superlite (I like the flutes). But if given a choice between a T3 Superlite and a T3x Lite, the improvements on the T3x would be the deciding factor and I'd definitely go that way.

Good luck! These are nice guns.

If it were Superlite I would think it should be lighter than Lite. Super Lite could mean it's Lite like the T3x Lite, but it's also Super.

Qleavenworth, if you don't just buy yourself a "rifle" soon, you're gonna drive yourself nuts lol.[/QUOTE

Ha Ha Ha . I’m almost there LOL ! I have a nice rifle already but want another , don’t we all ! I just hope you guy’s will hang in there with me and answer my questions until I decide what to buy !
Thanks Leavenworth

Tx3 Superlite isn't imported regularly into Canada by the distributor. Special order only, can take 12+ months

Mr. Bartell . I don’t think I want the Super Lite . I think I like the T3x Lite stainless but I’m confused does that model come in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 22 inch barrel ? could you possibly let me know.
!
Thanks
