Hello
I just ordered a Tikka CTR 6.5 PRC and would like to know what MDT chassis I would need.
Long or Short action?
Also mags would be 300wsm correct?

Thanks

best bet would be to contact MDT directly. They are great to deal with.
I would’ve done that sooner, but I was looking at a few on the EE and thought I might buy one of those.
I didn’t really want to PM any of sellers until I knew what I was talking about.
And… Lol I didn’t think it would be fair , to waste MDTs time asking questions about a chassi, that I was planning to buy off the EE.

And if anybody knows for a used Tac 21 RH that will fit my Tikka CTR 6.5 PCR , please contact me. A couple of 300 wsm mags too.

I’m gonna do a bit more research

Soit’s basically a long action, with the only difference being the mags?
In order to use the 6.5 round , they had to use an long action but had to modify the mags, by using shims.
So the only difference between long and short action chassis, is the mag well.

Tikka actions are all long actions, but have different length bolt stops, depending on what mag length you run.
You should be able to run your CTR in a long action MDT chassis, with a long action bolt stop (can be bought from CoreTac and others) and MDT's 3.56" Tikka mags. That would let you load over 3" COAL if you needed. May need mag lip tweaking to feed reliably (maybe not), but it shouldn't be too hard to get it working well as long as the PRC fits the 300wm size mags. Best to contact MDT as they would tell you what has worked and what hasn't with the WSMs and PRCs.
