Hey guys, Just picked up a Tikka CTR in .308. Looking for optic opinions. It's going to be mainly for target shooting but I don't really want to load it down with a telescope either as I plan to take it off range as well. I don't imagine on doing any crazy long range stuff but something capable. Sort of looking at the NX8 2.5-20, anyone have experience with those? Looking for FFP and ideally lockable turrets and illumination. I notice a lot of these FFP scopes don't really have a usable reticle in low magnification so if there's something that does let me know. Side note, any recommendations on muzzle breaks as well? Thank you!

I had a NXS 5.5-22x50 on my 6.5 PrC CTR. Found it was too heavy for hunting. Took the rail off and put a 3-10 SHV on it. Feels much better.

The new Schmidt & Bender FFP Meta scope ticks most boxes. 3-18x42 with a simpler tactical type reticle that is proportioned very well. Aimed at hunting and NRL type shooting. We had some prototypes with us in April. They will be in full production by now. I can't wait to get one on my hunting rifle.

Not a CTR, but I have an Arken EPL-4 4-16x on my UPR and it is just about perfect. Checks all the boxes, except locking turrets (zero stop, illumination, FFP, usable reticle, fantastic glass). For a muzzle brake, MDT gets the nod. Again, high value for the price. Yes there are some better ones out there, but at 2-3x the price for maybe 10% improvement in performance, this gets the nod from me.

The Meta looks great but it is pricey. In the US they're 4200 USD, I don't think they've made it to Canada yet.

Yes they are pricey but also very good. On our rifles we have several Schmidt scopes from 3-12 Zenith right up to 3-27x56 pmII. It is really great to swop scopes around and they all track the same. So reliable. I have lost interest in other scopes, too many disappointments.
