Tikka factory rail removal

Has anyone removed the factory pic rail from a Tikka UPR?
I have read that the rails are glued on and the screws are locktited.
Is this something a normal person could attempt?
I want to install a 20moa rail.

You’re correct on their installation, but can be removed. Solid vice to hold everything, tap your screwdriver with a hammer while applying pressure to remove the screws. Once they’re out you’ll have to carefully and slowly pry up on the rail. Once it’s moving just keep moving under and lift. A proper small pry bar is better than a screwdriver!

I just put a heat gun on it for a little bit. Slightly more than warm to the touch and then used a rubber mallet to gently tap on. Came off pretty quick.

Will the action require clean up before installing the new pic rail?
My rifle is a 6.5 Creedmoor which I'd like to stretch out to a mile.

are you adding elevation on your new rail? as the ones installed by tikka at the factory are not only great but hard to replace by something else. what i can say as well try before changing if not already done. some acethone will help to remove some of the cleaning but you will need to add some glue on the new rail towards the rifle.
