Santa gave me a 3D printer so I decided to make a tool for removing the firing spring in my Tikkas. You need to compress the spring to remove the snap ring holding the spring keeper in place. Without the proper tool this can be frustrating.
After a few attempts I came up with this model that works really well. All the parts in contact with the firing pin assembly are plastic, so no chance of marring the components. I am wondering if there would be a market for this tool?

Nice work! Not sure about the market for something like this. A padded vise and a finishing nail is all you really need, but I bet someone would like this for sure, especially if a guy was taking down the bolt more often.

Really great idea and build! Well Done!

I have a Tikka T3X approaching 4,000 rounds fired. I have often thought about how to replace the firing pin spring.

Regarding a market: Yes I think there would be, if there was also an available new spring and snap ring from a Canadian source. From what I understand, firing pin springs cannot be shipped from the US.

I would also need instructions on how to unbend the old snap ring, and crimp on a new one, without scratching up the pin.

Coretac
sells a Tikka spring kit with a new snap ring. They have instructions for removing the old snap ring. If you are careful you can reuse them.
