A nice gentleman fellow hunter decided it was time to let his M65 deluxe in 338 Win Mag go after many years, and I feel I was very fortunate to be able to buy it.
I can't wait to get out there and shoot it but will have to wait a few days for the weather to change to our more normal wet coast weather.

I would love to hear from anyone else who has one of the older Tikka models, especially if you have a 65 or 695 in 338 win mag. And if you know anywhere I can buy a spare magazine....

I will try to post some pictures asap.

Look forward to reading your input.

There seem to be two versions of deluxe....both have the rosewood accents but one version has a squared off forend and the other has a round nosed forend. I have the latter version with oil rubbed stock in 7RM. They are very nice rifles. The mags (for all calibres AFAIK) are scarce. I have a spare magnum magazine....but if I sold it....I wouldnt have a spare.....thus the dilemma in sourcing magazines for these.

Thanks for the fast responses - my first try at posting a picture from photbucket!

Nice! And a lefty too! Let me know if you hate it and I will dispose of it for you. And as for a spare Mag, good luck and just be happy you have the one! Don't lose it.

Thank you - I had forgotten to mention it is a lefty! As far as hating it, well the bolt is so smooooth, and I hear the triggers are great, oh and the bore rifling is deep and bright. On first glance I think I might have difficulty finding fault with this gun..

I found a mint one at a gun show for 300$. It is in 7mm and was missing the bolt and the magazine. I bought it and it took me about 6 weeks to get a bolt and mag for it.

They're heavy but solid, well built rifles.

I don't think the 338 WM was a common chambering in the M65 Tikka.
The magazine that came with mine was stamped. ' 300 Win. Mag. '.
Beautiful rifle and very accurate, loud with the 22 " barrel but great to carry in the bush.

I think that you will love that rifle. Usually very accurate, great adjustable trigger, and very smooth action.
Most will say those model 65/55 (long action/short action) rifles were the best ever made by Tikka. They were made prior to the takeover by Sako.
Before that takeover, the Tikka models 65/55 pretty much competed heads up with Sako. The deluxe model which you have is a fine looking rifle.
At one time, I had a 55 deluxe in 243 and a 65 deluxe in 270 .....They were both excellent shooters.
You will likely be able to find a spare magazine, but it may take a while. It will also likely be expensive.

Thank you Pete. Per my comments to Kevan above, the Tikka chart shows no 338 win mag in the 65 or 695. I speculated that Sako may have curtailed the high quality Tikka's because they may have been high quality / bargain price compared to the Sako's.

I am very happy with my find and would love to find a lefty in 243 as well. I will keep scouring for the magazine.

Thanks very much for your comments.

Kevan - sorry I thought I had replied to your thread.... I could not find any reference to 338 win mag on the Tikka company specification chart for the 55 65 595 and 695 models, but the gun is stamped 338 win mag. Mine is a 24" barrel i think.

FWIW .. I just looked at my spare 'magnum' magazine and 4 spare m55 mags (two different styles - but all for the 308w diameter) and NONE of them were marked with a calibre. I think my LSA65 in 6.5x55 magazine may be marked but havent checked the mags in the rifles yet. Also I may have the same multi page brochure .. but no mention of .338 .. although I have seen 338wm M65's advertised before

Here is my 338 wm 695 in a Boyd's stock. I love it! Shoots excellent with 225 grain fusions. Bolt is super smooth with zero rattle. I already posted n the other tikka section but it's so pretty I love showing it off lol. It's got a vortex 4-16x44 viper on it.
