If that's the old pre-Sako version of Tikka I had one of those, it was my first true left-handed rifle. Was a .338 as well. Bought it from Bruce Montague back in the mid 90's for $600. She was deadly accurate with 225 Sierras iirc. Had a giant black synthetic bolt knob I do believe as well as a lovely piece of walnut with grip cap and fore end tip.
Two of us and counting..... unless I ended up buying your rifle from another owner? When did you sell yours? I have found that the 338 win mag Tikka M65 was a new model in 1987 and was only made until 1989. According to Guns & Ammo in 1983 the M65 ( excepting 338 win mag which was not yet made) cost $650.... that was about $200 more than the average rifle at the time.
Had three tikka lh m 595 and 695 // 338/300 and still got a 7mm rem mag// all had wood and iron sights they r a pleasure to shoot well were only got the 7mm left they // not abrupt recoil it more or less pushed //should of kept them but u can only use one at a time
