Lets hhear the pros and cons please. The M65 is the last of the handmade Tikkas, very good quality, accurate but a pain to find clips/stocks for. The T3 again very accurate, light and almost the same price.
Help me make the right choice!

IF you dont' mind a heavier rifle get the Tikkakoski...I prefer the M65 and still own one. If you can get a deluxe then its a no brainer. One of my Hunting partners has one in 300 wm. My regular model is in 6.5x55 .

I never did like the way the T3 looked but like you said, at least you can replace the stock/magazine .

I have M55s, M65s, and a T3, all good, all shoot very well.
The 55/65s are very well made and somewhat heavier.
Several friends also have T3s in various chamberings and none have any complaints, however numerous posters on the forum complain about the plastic mags, trigger guards, etc.
Personally I can't complain and I've used mine in -30 weather with no problems.

wabusk,

We've PM'd about this, so you know how much I like my M65 Deluxe in 30-06. Regarding replacement stocks, McMillan can apparently inlet for an M65 --- as far as I know, that's the only synthetic stock available. I'd be curious to know if anyone's tried it out. While my rifle's been hunted with, I'm not super keen on exposing the wood to the wet/cold conditions here in BC or Yukon.

One thing I really like on my M65 are the iron sights, especially as a backup with quick detach rings.

Let's put it this way. Both are great guns. The T-3 is easily available in many configurations and calibers, even special orders only take a year or so. The LSA/M guns have not been made since the late 80s. But in their day they went head to head with Sako.

M65

Thanks for all the input. I have a M65 in 7mm and my son took his first moose with it this year in Timmins. I love the way it shoots, feels, and looks! I have one coming in .300wm that is a little rough(75%) with no stock and I am buying a deluxe in .338wm in really nice shape. I am a big guy and don't mind the weight at all.

Hey I am not far from where your son killed his first moose, real nice country down there, if your worried about magazines you still can get the M65 and M55 magazines through your local gunshop, as they can order one for you though Stoeger, there around $150-175 for a magazine, but think a T-3 magazine is around $100 and there plastic not nice blued steel. I would by the M65 any day of the week over the T-3 as I just like the old craftsmanship in these guns and they will keep there value over a t-3, just this classic gun collectors opinion, but you know what they say about opinions, there like as*h*les everyone has one, cheers Dale in T-Bay
