Tikka Replacement Trigger Springs - Is There a Difference?

I recently purchased a Tikka t3x varmint and the stock trigger pull was 2.5lbs with the adjustment screw all the way out, as advertised. Before I bought it I already had a plan to replace the trigger spring and get the pull weight down a bit lower, so I quickly ordered a YoDave spring. It did indeed drop the trigger pull weight to ~1.3lbs, but the firing pin follows the bolt forward when running the bolt pretty normally. If I set the trigger with the YoDave spring to 1.5-1.75lbs it is better, but firing pin still follows the bolt if I run it hard. YoDave spring adjusted all the way in was still not holding under deliberately hard bolt manipulation, so I put the stock spring back in. Stock spring adjusted to 2.5lbs is good to go no matter how hard I slam it around.

My question is: is there a different aftermarket spring that's between the YoDave and factory? Is trying another brand a waste of time?

Lumley Arms also makes a spring available in a 3 pack. I haven't tried them but I do have YO Dave and Mountain tactical springs in my Tikka's. My guns have not shown the issue you are talking about with either spring and I have one set to about 1 pound. Maybe there is another problem with your trigger group. Try giving it a clean and see if there is something sticky in there

No issues so far with the MCarbo spring in my CTR. It's set right at 1lb, and running the bolt aggressively doesn't cause issues. I'm wondering if there's an issue with your trigger? Did you put the brass plunger back in the correct orientation?

Seems like I should have a closer look at the trigger... I'll get into it tonight and see if I can find a problem. I figured it was just too light of a spring because it works fine with the original trigger spring, but it seems like nobody else has this issue.

I installed a YoDave trigger spring in my Tikka T3X stainless varmint, and its been working fine. However I have only used it single loading. (I installed a single shot adapter in the magazine), so I am not cycling rounds from the magazine or running the bolt hard. Trigger pull gauge is measuring 8-9 oz pull with adjustment screw maxed out.

I spent a short time playing with it tonight. Nothing wrong with the trigger. I had more success with the YoDave spring though... Maybe I had the plunger backwards, or maybe I don't have as much frustration to take out on the hard bolt test runs tonight? Set to minimum I was getting 1lb on my spring gauge, but the firing pin was still following the bolt when I slammed it hard. Not just forward, but forward and down in one smooth, fast, hard motion. Adjusting the set screw part way in I found a spot around a 1.3lb trigger pull where I was no longer able to slam it hard enough for that to happen. That's where I left it.

It passed a drop test and mostly worked fine at minimum, but I had to either be gentle with the bolt or run it forward, then down, in a two part motion. Seems like what some people describe with the red Savage accutrigger set under 1lb.

I tried a yodave spring. It brought it down by around half a pound to around 1.25 pounds. I ended up removing the factory trigger completely and replacing it with a Jard trigger that is 9 ounces as I use the rifle strictly for benchrest shooting but they have different weight ranges
