I have been reading and researching to try and figure out what the proper ring and bases or combination mount, would give me a correct fit for my scope and rifle combination. As well what would be the best product, I am leaning towards the factory optilock, but not sold yet

If anyone can give me advise it would be helpful, the rifle is a Tikka T3 varmint 223 the scope is a Bushnell Elite 2.5 x16 x 42

I've got a new Bushnell Elite 4 x 16 x 40mm on a T3 lite. The objective lens end measures 52mm in diameter. I would imagine your scope would be some where around 54 or 55mm. According to the chart for Optilock Rings on the Tikka website extra low OptiLock rings and Tikka bases will allow clearance for a scope up to a max 59mm. These are the bases and rings I used. And, yes, there are cheaper options out there, but after looking at them I opted for this set up and like it very much. If you opt for Optilock rings, check this link out:

It's what I used to figure out which ring height I needed. The only thing that may cause you to need a higher mount height might be the fact that the T3 Varmit has the raised comb (cheek piece) which may put your eye (line of sight) higher then the reticle. If this is the case you may need a higher mount. So in that case, it's a good idea to buy from somewhere where you can easily exchange them, or better yet bring the scope and rifle to the store with you. This is just my 2 cents, but I hope it helps a little.

I have a t3 varmint as well and yes I needed high rings because of the cheek piece, well that's what fit me anyway...you are really really going to like shooting that gun. I used leupold bases and rings

Thanks for the feedback, I managed to find rings and bases locally to my surprise Leupold hardware, I would have liked the Tally one piece, but had to order and I really want to put a few rounds down range,,,You know the story "Like a Kid with a new toy".

Again thanks for the feedback
