I got out to my club this past week to try out my T1 16” in a GRS Bifrost stock wearing a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16x ffp MRAD. The trigger has been adjusted to about 2.5lbs. I bought one of the premium tester packs from Tesero with Eley Match, Tenex, Lapua Midas+, Center X and RWS R50. 903D242E-82C5-4F51-A607-8C722DE58A2E.jpg 0DA4C078-712F-460E-9EA1-1D4CF4376172.jpg
The conditions were poor, with gusting winds to 60kph and blowing snow at -11C. I figured that I should try regardless of the weather.C11E5905-5CFF-4EC1-A109-A0589A2A3594.jpg
I first fired 10 shots of each ammo at a big target, then 5-5 shot groups in an attempt at the 1/2” challenge at 50yds.F72B7350-B4AD-48DF-A336-78B8B6997B08.jpg I managed some great groups, but the wind took its toll, always blowing at least one group out of five. My best group was from the Lapua Center X. 8CE03C79-CCC6-4412-B87B-43FBD8B1F45C.jpg
I’ll be back again this week to try again. For those that haven’t shouldered a GRS stock, try one. There is something amazing about the feel of the grip. It won’t be my last.

Great looking stock and some nice groups. I think that kind of wind would have to hurt your groups. BTW, try some lapua polar biathlon or sk biathlon sport. They both shoot great in mine.

Any information on the stock?

Sorry to derail the thread!

I don’t know much about it other than it was pricey and worth every cent. I can say that it is a very rigid polymer. Just the force of seating the action to the stock showed me that it has a very precise fit.

Just a note from what I’ve seen from a far the twist that barrel did better with hot ammo have you tried much? Oh and by the way that is the exact build I had in mind I’ve ordered the 20 inch barrel hope it performs and yes it looks great! if you don’t mind me asking what did you pay for the stock.
Thanks.

I’ve only tried a dozen Stingers and Mini Mags. Both shot ok, but not as well as the standard velocity. I gave up on the fast stuff after starting to shoot my Mauser Es340b at 200m. The stock was just under $1k to my door. I’m already saving for another.

22 ammo falls apart in lower temps. I am not sure how cold it was when you shot your test but it will probably be really different if you were to conduct it on a warmer day.

rimfirecentral in the states. There are several posts in threads saying how well the cold weather ammo is doing. Think it was with T1 and CZ 457. Lapua. ( probably spelled that wrong)

I am shooting a Vudoo V22 with Eley Tenex and you can watch the groups open up as the gun and ammo cool. I will put 5 in a quarter inch on group 1 and then by the time group 3 is shot it will open up past .5".

This was in -20 to -22 so quite cold.

Some of the Biathlon ammo may have a different coating to help the cold but I was reading a lot of the Biathlon shooters keep the ammo under their clothes near their crotch to keep things as warm as possible.

I know my barrel was ice cold when I was last out so even if I kept the ammo warm I would guess the wax hardened almost immediately once it hit the chamber.
