Still balancing between Tikka and CZ but starting to lean towards Tikka... Now, if I get Tx1, I know that I will blow money on grip and forend. Maybe soft touch but that comes in black only. I kind of admire green or coyote on black...Oh and definitely a bipod. All that is barely within a retire budget... Now, is it better to stretch that budget a bit and replace entire stock. Now what would you recommend. Nothing crazy. Something that would truly help an old man to get good groups without breaking the bank... Or, is putting on a cheek riser, pistol grip and a beavertail forend the most economical option. Note that I do enjoy shooting freehand as much as bench.

Changing the grip and cheek riser piece is a comfort thing. Changing the stock, depending on whatvyou go to, is not only a comfortable thing, but also a performance thing.

Check out either KRG or MDT. Im not sure if MDT has a Field Stock for the T1x or not, but that would be the most economical thing to look at if you are going to swap it out.

MDT field stock is good value for the money. I have one on my 1022 and like it.

KRG Bravo is what I have on my T1x. I do prefer it over the field stock. The grip is nicer and cheek rest stays in place.

Both are good, all depends on how much you want to spend.

I just ran with the standard black VG and called it a day. OEM stock is fairly stiff and handles well for a polypropylene unit. I once put a T3 into a Bell & Carlson and hardly considered it an upgrade.

You might be better off looking into the UPR model of your looking for something more substantial.

Best bang for the buck in T1x chassis (hibrid) is the KRG Bravo, lots of option available, one knob lop adjustement, added weight in the grip, under the barrel and in the buttstock, got one for my mtr too.

The stock stock works fine, start with shooting the gun and see how you like it out of the box.... keep an eye for used stocks as well, the T1x is pretty popular and people like to try different things. The good news/bad news is there are lot's of good options at extra cost.

What optic are you considering?

It sure would be nice if they put the grip modules in the box like glock and most modern pistol manufacturers do these days!

Please, bear with me. I may be a fud and a newbie to anything close to precision shooting but, have mercy! You are writing in code that's next to magic for me. It was relatively easy to find some info on KRG or MDT (thanks, looks interesting) but what's an UPR model? Can you guytry it as talking to a 10 years old? 70 or 10... same bloody thing... ;)

I have a Nikon Prostaff BDC that I intend to keep.

Correction, T1x UPR was easy to find but, at the 2x price than T1x MTR... out of the budget. Let's be frank. 300 $CAD over MTR, I can handle. Anything more may be better spent on quality ammo...

The UPR is the standard T1x in a different stock. There version of a target stock.
As far as i know its exactly the same barrel profile.
At that price point KRG Bravo is the better way to go.

Still comes down to how much you want to spend. Still need a decent scope and rings to complete the package.

Particularly strong, particularly accurate

The core of UPR is fiberglass stock which makes it comfortable to carry on longer trips or on challenging terrains. Carbon fiber bedding surfaces increase the stiffness of the stock, which naturally improves the rifle's accuracy. In addition, the design of the stock takes into account the ergonomic shooting position, even at long distances.

I just checked Al Flaherty's and they have the T1X UPR 22lr in stock. Nice looking rifle.....

If you prefer a wood stock take a look at the T1X MTR Hunter. ~$350 less than the UPR. Might fit a retiree budget better(?)

Honestly, the $40 vertical grip does enough by itself to give the standard tikka stock a better feel while not breaking the bank. Shame it’s not included in the box as others have posted. I forwent the thick forend, just because I like it thin out front. Shoot its stock-stock and save the pesos. T1X is a fine machine.

As said, shoot it first. It really depends on how you’re going to use it and what your preferences are. Mine shoots awesome in the factory stock. I do like a vertical grip, but that’s personal preference.

As another older guy, I prefer a more classic look, most chassis stocks make me gag a little

I bought a used factory wood stock ($250) for my Battue and it made a good gun great to me. The feel of wood is timeless and it just lends a warmth too it. Not too pretty that you can’t hunt with, but so much nicer then the factory synthetic. Honestly I don’t really think most stocks improve the accuracy much. Tikka factory synthetics are pretty decent stocks, It’s all personal though

UPR $1460 at Al. MTR 855 at Epps... MDT is about 300 U$... is one substantially better than the other?

GPSMN, I have a Tikka T1X, 22LR, with Leupold 3x9x40/AO, mounted in Burris Signature rings, on a Picatinny rail made for the rifle.

It's the blue steel model, and when purchased, it came with the standard tupperware stock, which was very good, but I wanted to squeeze a bit more out of it.

One of the members here, who lives close by and is a friend, Paul T, had a take-off stock with all of the features you're looking at. He had upgraded his rifle with a new barrel/stock, etc.

I don't regret getting the upgraded furniture one bit, as it's ergonomically correct for my stature and trigger pull length. It also makes the rifle easier to steady in a rest off the bench, or even when shooting off hand at bunnies or over-abundant varmints.

However, none of the accessories made the rifle any more accurate. It shot 3/8" groups at 50yds with Standard velocity CCI ammo when it came out of the box, and it still shoots the same ammo into 3/8" groups at 50yds with the same ammo.

I didn't buy the rifle to shoot spectacular groups with very expensive ammunition or shoot out to 100+yds.

My eyes and control are no longer up to that much accuracy to do the system justice, if I were.

This rifle shoots most brands of ammo well, but loves the CCI Standard velocity as well as the Aquila type I have on hand, which shoots slightly better, and I don't have to change anything on the scope, as they both shoot to the same point of aim.

I found out over the years that as often as not, a lot of the accessories we added onto our firearms is often more for aesthetic appeal than realistic results.

That being said, go with what you want/like/can afford.

I used to shoot a lot of 22rf CZ rifles, but I got bored with them and moved to Tikka 22rf rifles. I won't be going back to CZ.

The one thing I will say about the CZ, it carried better, IMHO, when it was mounted in the original factory wood stock than the Tikka.

But that's only because I prefer a wood stock to a plastic stock. Personal preference only, nothing wrong with either.

I hear you. There are dreams. There are plans. There is reality... I have 45-70 Shicari break action. I have 30-30 lever action that's as old as I am. I have 410 break action that's destined as the first gun for my grondsone once (when /if) he's ready. I have.... a bunch not worth mentioning. Well, when it comes for the hardware and ammo, I have enough for a small war or a big revolution;)
Plans... Retire in a relatively small community.
Dreams....Being able to compete5 in a relatively small gun club.
Plans... To make the 2 above a reality.
I like beaverton because I love free hand shooting..
Limited budget.... how to combine it all with style? ...Is the sot fgrip worth extra $ over plastic?

What can I say... I'm not an absolute newbie to a 22 game. I have a bit of a mental block when it comes to CZ. It's what I used to shoot 50+ years ago in my previous life...
I need something for going after rabbits or wood chickens (grouse). I want something that I can (kind off) compete with from a bench.

I recommend getting the rifle and shooting it before buying any upgrades.

I bought a t3x in .223 and it shoots sub-moa. I added a vertical grip and I have no desire to upgrade it further. It shoots great!

Also a short piece of foam insulation for 1/4”copper pipe and some 3m vet wrap bandage make a super cheap cheek riser.
