I'm thinking of getting a Tikka T1X later this year, but I'd like to consider other rifles before I make a final decision. I have a CZ 452, and while I really like it, it does need an upgraded trigger, and I'd like a full sized bolt handle. I'll be using the rifle for plinking and I'd like to give PRS a go too.

What other rifles should I consider?

I forgot to mention I got an ruger precision rimfire, it's good, when things get better I have a 6-24x50 scope that I want to test out

If I was to start over and buy again with no budget I'd go Vudoo V-22.

But no regrets with my CZ457 MTR and quite enjoying modifying the rifle to my liking. Next upgrade I'm considering... LILJA 457 16 3/4″ threaded barrel.

If you are not happy with the trigger in the cz, you will likely not be happy with the trigger in the tikka also. They both can be improved with spring swaps.

I would disagree with the above statement. The trigger out of the box on the Tikka was great, unlike my CZ. The CZ required a spring kit etc. Tikka was great (same trigger as T3 etc) and was easily adjusted.

CRPS has put out gear specs on their FB page. From memory...

Production class.. winniest rifle is the Savage MkII. Has also taken overall wins

In open, CZs are the most popular ... 455 and 457s Tikka is up there with Vudoos. I am sure Bergaras and similar will start to fill the ranks as availability improves. Savage B and A's are definitely used but you will need to see the stats for popularity.

I run a 10/22 and consider this is the best option for the game. Properly speced barrel, stock have served me well. 10/22 is somewhere in the middle for popularity

I bought a Savage MkII and an optic that keeps me in the lower class. I’ll see how it plays out once the covid thing lets me go to the range. One is the best shooters I’ve ever seen was a reformed open class IPSC competitor shooting a stock 9mm. All the fun, none of the $$ arms race.

I got the T1X .22 with the 16" barrel. I love it.

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to optics. At first I was really upset with the poor accuracy I was getting at 50 yards on a bench rest with an expensive scope.

That's when I learned most parallax settings are set at 100m. So I took off the inappropriate expensive scope and got myself a nice inexpensive Bushnell rimfire scope with variable parallax settings from 10yards to infinite. With parallax set to 50 yards. My t1x specimen now consistently shoots sub 1/2inch groups at 50 yards.

I ordered another of these rimfire scope for my 10-22, can't wait to see how it does on it. I don't expect it to go any where close to the t1x but I bet it is not as bad as I thought.

I really wonder how many folks got rid of perfectly good 22's just because they scoped it with improper parallax settings.

I purchased one a couple months ago. In 17HMR, added KRG Bravo stock to it. My new gopher rifle. Replace my CZ452 as my primary gopher getter. I like the aftermarket support that T1x has. Shorter bolt lift is much nicer, really my biggest complaint about the CZ.

Able to get the trigger down to 1.5 lbs with factory adjustment. Mine is good, nothing I would change unless I go to aftermarket 2 stage. I like 2 stage triggers.

Only made it to the range one time before they closed to try out. Not best of conditions but I would say around 1 inch 10 shot group at 100m. All I need for gophers. What my CZ does as well. Need a warmer less windy day to play with it as far as trying to see which brand of ammo it will like best. It should be field tested soon as the land is drying up finally.
