I am very happy with mine . Well done Tikka

It shoots as well as my BR gun

This target [ bottom row ] was at 50 yrds , light wind , off a sand bag

What looks like a stray shot in the top row was where a sighter went when aiming at the middle of the paper to sight in the scope

The top row was a CZ mtr

So...I'm fighting-off the urges to buy one of these. Rather, start saving for one. :) All I see are 20" ones for sale, but recently had someone suggest getting the 16" model as the barrel is more rigid=likely more accurate. Anyone care to confirm/validate that? If you have one that shoots HV ammo well, feel free to post target photos and ammo info. Considering this for gopher work.

You and I both ... Cz 452 farewell or tikka .........

All I can say is Im very happy with my 20" T1X . Havent tryed HV ammo only SK Biathlon and CenterX and they both shoot awesome
I did speak with CZ factory about their 20" vs 16" MTR and they said they both shot the same . They only made the 16" to meet market demand for the shorter bbl in mainly the UK market
I know what your saying - a short bbl is stiffer but maybe the difference in 16 vs 20 lengths doesnt matter - only when the bbls get longer
I know it does matter in Anchutz 660mm vs 690mm . The longer one is improved with a tuner
That being said I have shot a 20" Anschutz and saw no improvement with a tuner
For what its worth thats my experience

I have read that for controlling velocity with HV ammo :

" 20 inches - for standard or subsonic rimfire ammo where muzzle velocities are around 1100 fps or less. 18 inches - for high-velicity rimfire ammo where muzzle velocities are around the 1300 fps mark. 16 inches - for "extreme" high velocity rimfire ammo (i.e. Stinger) where muzzle velocities are 1500+ fps.Feb 8, 2005 "

From that statement Id suspect that the barrel length dictates what velocity ammo is most accurate in certain bbl lengths . Probably a case of one cant have it all in one bbl length

- - oh and the other thing . Every factory component is made within " exceptable tolerence " . When it goes together sometime the stars align and one gun is more accurate and works better than others of the same make and model
because it has the right combo of parts that go together just so
They are built to mass production standards . Thats one reason custom guns are more expensive , theres more attention to the components on an individual gun . But even then as Bill Calfee says , not all those come out perfect .
Moral - if you get a good one , keep it . That took me 60 yrs to learn
As an exampl I had one of the first 3 Savage LRPR's to come to Canada . It won every shot I had it in . So naturally everyone went out and bought one . None shot better than mine . One felow bought 3 in a row trying to get one that shot as well as mine - he didnt
And what did I do with mine - I sold it ! - I hadnt learned at that point
I do now have a Remington 40XBR [ .222 ] that was a keeper but Im thinking of dropping out of CF BR so it may be on CGN soon . 22 RF BR is more my speed these days .

Lucky people thread the shorter barrel for a suppressor
