Can anyone tell me if Tikka includes the Opti-Lock rings/bases with their new firearms? Myself and a friend both purchased Tikka T3 Hunter rifles today from a local retailer. I had always thought that Tikka supplied a set of Opti-Lock rings/bases with the firearms but the retailer said that they did not. The users manual says they are included; I checked the beretta site tonight and it also says that the rings/bases are included.

Has anyone recently purchased one of these firearms and if you have, did it include the Opti-Lock rings/bases?

No, not in Canada. In the US they come with rings / bases, but I think they're Millets.

One of the 3 T3's I ordered came with the Mullets as a package as well as A Blurris FFII 3x9x40. Sold the rings and went with the Talley Lite weights.

I did try the Opti Locs on one of the Tikkas. They seemed too high so I sent them back. Went with the Talley Lite Weights again.

The Opti Locs seem perfect on my Sako 75 though.

optilocks are never included. at aprox $175 for rings and bases i wish they did. i have a couple of t3's one with optilocks and one with millet. i have tried luep and they work ok too but i would go with talleys if i bought another one.

How about a set of Weaver bases and some low Burris "Z" rings? Got that set up on my Tikka Model 695 master all-weather stainless/synthetic in 6.5x55mm. But also have a set of the Millet's [rings] that fit the integral groove on the receiver, a blued/synthetic Tikka Model 595 in .308 Win. Those seem to be a good set-up, too.

Burris Zee Rings and weaver bases have severed me very well on all my Tikka rifles ive owned (3)
Like as if a guy really needs to spend close to $200 just on rings and bases. Put that extra cash you woulda spent on those rings and buy a better scope or a new pair of hunting boots. Just my opinion :)

Cheers!!

I guess only the USA customers are important. Anyhow if Tikka did include the rings, they aren't Optilocks, and I would just loss the frebies out. I prefer the Optilock rings and bases on my Sako and Tikka rifles. Very solid and strong. In the eight years on my Sako m75 SS 300WM, the zero has not moved at all, and this rifle has seen a few hard miles especially moose hunting in the gun scarrab on the quad.

From what I understand, Stoeger chose not to import the rifles with the rings and bases by CHOICE, not berretta saying NO cause your Canadian....The rings and bases that they would come with are not exactly the best. Optilocks are far superior. But thats IMHO but of course.

I recently bought a 'Tikka whitetail hunter' (not available any more) as they now have the 'inferior T3' model.:p
The rifle came without any mounts/rings.
I spent the extra money and bought the 'optilock' system and i'm really pleased that i spent the extra $$$

JUST DO IT,DO IT, DO IT, :)

if I was to shoot a Tikka T3, I'd be driving Talley Lightweights on my receiver.

I see no advantage and several disadvantages to the Optilocks in comparison

price & weight lead the pack
I've had 595's and a couple 695's as well........even a custom 695M.
Used Optilocks on them all................eventually went to the Talleys and IMO they are the Best Ring setup available for the Tikka Rifles.
Compared to optilocks They are Half the weight......half the cost.....& just as strong,
But look Twice as Good
I also liked the fact the Talleys use the existing predrilled threaded holes for mounting, they are Solid.
I had an unfortunate incident when my "Friction fit clamped on" optilock bases loosened up ( Big Loads ) and my Scope fell on the road when I hung the rifle on my shoulder:redface:
My fault for not checking them I suppose but another reason I began to prefer the Talleys ( 4 screws threaded into the action instead of 2 clamping the mounts to it.
The Sako optilocks are a much better system then the Tikkas, the sakos reciever dovetail are "Tapered" so recoil drives them tighter ;)
The tikkas dovetail is milled straight so the bases just clamp on like a giant 22 setup
Just my Oppinions but If I ever buy another Tikka it will wear Talleys.

Yeah Talley are very good, but if you prefer all steel (like me) one piece go with Warne rings. No comparison with cheapo Millett.

And please don't ask me why i prefer Warne steel made when i own a T3 with plastic parts!
