Has anyone even seen the new 2012 Tikka Fluted before? Have I been living under a rock or something? This new tikka rifle seems to have popped out of no where. I just found out about it recently. Apparently costs about as much as an A7 but man it looks so much nicer!

I did a quick Photoshop of it;

###y, but strangely the specs say it weights the same as the regular hunter? :confused:

You can see it on this video. It's the rifle on the top of the rack.

Here's a tikka SS fluted that I picked up, it was a special run that was an exclusive offer to one of the big box stores.
I mounted a 2-7 vortex viper on it to keep the weight down, it weighs in at exactly 7 lbs. I spider webbed the stock to try and dress it up oh yeah I put a limbsaver pad on it, cuz it kicks.

Here it is beside it's older brother a sako 75 SS , this one was fluted before offered by sako both are 300 win mags the sako is 1 1/2 lbs heavier.

Very nice rifles!

I wish Sako came out with a fluted hunter (wooden stock). Have they ever had one in their lineup before? Strange that they would innovate in the Tikka lineup before doing it in the Sako lineup!?

same weight because the fluted barrel is actually a little thicker to make up for the loss of strength from cutting material out of the barrel.

Have the same model except non fluted in 7mm mag, the rifle is light enough and accurate enough that i can't imagine the fluting will improve anything.

How did you do the spider webbing? That looks really good.

this is rattle can webbing paint by krylon. This one is silver on the black stock, I chose it to accent the stainless steel action and barrel, I picked it up in the States. I put 5 coats of clear satin varnish to help hold everything together.

sweet rifles. You must of put a Finnlight barrel on the grey stock or vice versa stock onto a Finnlight. Anyhow I like, I have the same 300WM with custom fluting and the flutes teflon coated. Had the rifle new since 1997.....love this gun. It is my traditional moose camp rifle. Was my only rifle till the rifle bug bit in 2004/05

Nope I picked this one up from a guy who had it done while living in BC. it's custom too the barrel and bolt were fluted and the bolt handle was also drilled out to try to shave weight.
