Tikka T3 Hunter Rifle choice of scope

What kind of terrain are you hunting? Open, dense brush, mountains??? What kind of distances are you reasonably looking to hunt at?0-300 yards? Would be easier if we knew what province you are in.
 
Go for a ziess conquest. Best bang for your buck over the leupold and vortex. Can get a 1" conquest with standard reticle for $500. That said, you could also get a nice vortex viper scope for about $400 with the BDC deadhold reticle. both very nice and very clear with good reputations.
 
Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 or a VX-3 2.5-8x36 They are at the upper end of your price range but worth it. I have a Conquest and love it and am considering the Vx-3 for another rifle
 
If you can get your hands on a 4200 2.5-10 or 3-9 I have read report they are as good as the Conquest and a bit easier on your wallet, however they are discontinuted so you will have to find any dealer still have any old stock or in the used market.

Otherwise I will vote for the 1" Conquest 3-9x40 Z-Plex.
 
I would normally say Leupold, but since you put a $500 dollar ceiling on it, a Sightron big sky 2 is a nice hunting scope in 3-9x42mm. I have 4 Leupolds and my Sightron is optically brighter and clearer. That being said, I haven't had it very long, so i haven't beaten on it like some of my Leupolds, so can't vouch for its reliability.
