I would like to outfit a T3 with Preferably express style or peep sights. I prefer them, the rifle is a good deal and the battue is not offered in this caliber.

I am not sure if this is a fools errand and I should learn to love the scope or buy another rifle, but for this caliber a slightly more expensive option would likely cost far more than optics, mounts and rings.

I'm guessing mounting rear receiver peep sights would be a relatively simply option. Drilling an express rib (if I can ever find one) or cutting multiple dove tails seems to be necessary. Am I out to lunch? Would this be costly?

I am thinking the cheapest option would be a dovetail if possible and a skinner offering.

For the front
Having a dovetail cut or some drilling done seems to be necessary, hopefully this is possible? And if possible hopefully not more than a few hours work for a competent gun smith.

If not is silver soldering the style of front sight base seen on European rifles and lever actions possible? (not sure if this would qualify as 'express style')

if anyone else is interested skinner sights appears to be able to do their winged sight relatively easily for the tikka as well as having another threaded for the tikka that is not on the sight but we described as "rugged". I declined pics (guessing it is pretty similar to their other low profile reciever sights.) and will be going for a winged sight myself.

The NECG banded front sight would work well.

Think it would ultimately be less costly to install than a stock tikka battue front set? They come in at around the same price.

I've never seen the battue's in person, but I'd go with a good aperture rear sight and banded front over the battue express.
It's a personal choice, specially if the cost is the same.

I have a spare Tikka T3 fibre optic front sight assembly that I had Arma-coated for a project rifle. The rifle went to a new home before I finished it. The front sight set cost north of $150 !!! It's held in place by two screws. You"ll still need a smith to CAREFULLY drill and tap to your preferred thread pitch.
If you want it, I'll give it to you for cost of shipping and a positive trader rating! :)

Wow Kurgan that is a generous offer.

I have already ordered a site, but I thank you none the less. You are a stand up guy.

Having some issues getting the parts together in Canada.

Does anyone know if the Sako peep sights that used to be produced will fit on the tikka dovetail? Or if there is a williams sight made for another gun that will fit it?

If the rear and front weaver bases for a Tikka will fit a Knight MK-85 WGRS reciever sight does that mean they will fit on the Tikka?

Kurgan where did you order your battue sight set from?
