I am looking to buy myself a new rifle.
I like the light weight of the t3 light, and the option of S.S.
The feel and look of the wood finish on the hunter is also a big draw. but no S.S.
I want to go with a 300 win mag, with a s.s. barrel.
I will be getting a Leapold vx-II 3-9X40 scope with it.
I am hoping to get peoples opinions on the setup, or recommendations on alternative setups that will meet my needs.

I like the look of the laminate. the weight is the same as the hunter. I don't know why they don't offer a S.S. version of the hunter. Maybe it is just wholesale sports that doesn't offer it as an option.

I have on to lite in stanless in 30/06 if you are going to get 300 wm go with the heaver hunter model or the lamnate model. The t3 lite bucks pritty hard in 06 so it is going to be worse in 300wm

I agree the lite bucks good. i have and 30-06 and my buddys winchester is a 300win mag doesn't kick anyomre than my 06.

Yeah new nickname "Major Pain". Light is highly overrated. Even my Ruger 77mk II ss 30-06 with lam stock feels a little thumpy but then I am running hot loads too. Thats a hefty cal for a light stock. Good luck with your choice.

I'm leaning heavier to the laminate or hunter the more I read. I have heard about the kick that the light had. I am grateful for the feedback. I have heard good things about the limb-savers from some fellas down at the range. anyone have experience with these on the tikka's

I just bought a Sako A7 in 300wsm and it is about the same weight as the Tikka T3. I never had a gun larger than a 270 before. The 300wsm jumps pretty good but I can shoot 20 rounds without it hurting at all, the secret with the A7 or T3 is take off the hard recoil pad it comes with and put on a limbsaver pad!

i have limbsavers on my t3's. laminates in 7 mag and 338 win and t3 stnthetic in 300 wsm. it softens them up noticbly. even my 338 is not bad at all. the 7 is a pussycat.

I am currently using one and it works quite well. Tames the hot 30-06 down and I shoot it often enough though I tend to be recoil sensitive.

Like mentioned, go with the Tikka T3 Hunter Stainless and add a Limbsaver recoil pad. I have both the Hunter and Lite, I dont like the Synthetic stock, I also find it very slipery when cold out. Both gun's are super accurate.
Good Luck

Much as I like the look of wood, hunting rifles do tend to get bumps & bruises!
Synthetic stocks look better in the long run, recoil can be mostly cured with a good pad.

I love my Tikka T3 LS rifles....they are the reason I waited an additional year from 2003 to 2004 for the LS model over the SS. I prefer the SS stock of a Sako m75 over the T3. The T3 stock is too hollow sounding.

As mentioned, if worried a bit on recoil, buy a Limbsaver pad for the stock butt.
You dont want to develope a flinch.

I have a T3 Hunter stainless in 300wsm, I have seen 7mm and 30-06 as well. I have yet to see a 300wm though. Mine is a good shooter, boots a bit but a limbsaver makes it manageable.

I've got a T3 lite SS in 7mm rem mag and after I put a Limbsaver pad on it, no more pain. It still kicks because of its lite weight but the flinching is gone. I love my rifle. Your Choice sounds good but get a Limbsaver.
