I traded for a NIB Tikka t3 lite in 30-06, topped it with a bushnell elite 3200. Gosh, its a nice rifle even for an entry one.

Its nice and light, which is important to me. I got tired of lugging around my M14 most of the time.

Looks like it has a nice thick barrel on it. The mag is cheap as hell (read: ENTIRELY plastic) but we'll see how it performs, and atleast its light.

The action is, of course, buttery-smooth. My only complaint so far is that damn Tikka doesnt ship with optilock rings -- while they do in the states!

Anyways, the guy at Le Baron's was very knowledable about the firearm and the different mounting options I had. He ran me through the different scopes (Student here, so I looked at the VX1, Rifleman, Browning's [What a gyp those were], 4200 & the 3200.) I decided on the 3200 for my budget, and a nice set of low rings. It comes up perfectly to my eyes.

I'm heading out tomorrow to scout for next season, I'm taking her along and I'll see how she performs if I can find a decent spot to sight in!

I have the same rifle, same scope.

The mags are plastic... but damn near indistructable, The guy at the guy shop gave me a convincing demonstration with it, threw it against the wall and jumped on the mag 2-3 times...haha, stupid bastard.

I added a Harris bipod and a limbsaver gring-to-fit pad for longer sessions at the range.

You still bought the mag after he did his torture test on it???? Did you get a discount on the rifle???
The Tikka's are nice but you can't top load them, the mag WILL get lost and right when you really need it most.

I meant entry-level for the Tikka/Sako brand! I'm bringing my camera home soon, as I gotta post pictures of the ugliest gun alive[see shotgun forums]. I'll post pictures when I remember.

I think it looks pretty handsom with the scope on it.

You'll like your T-3 I think, they seem to always shoot good. I know I really like mine. Don't feel bad about it not coming with rings though. The ones sold in the states don't come with Optilocks, they come with a cheap set of Millet rings that are by most reports, crap.

Yeah the Millet rings are poor to say the least. It is hard to beat the Optilock system for strength but they are heavy and expensive.
Talley rings are a good choice for wieght and they are plenty strong enough!
I agree with 308BAR that the Tikka is far from an entry level rifle... it is a blue chip rifle at blue collar cost though!
I would not worry about losing the mag... unless you live in the same trailer park as 303carbine.:p

You won't lose the mag, at $80-$90 a piece, you'll know where it is...;)

I've had 3 tikka's and all were moa or better with factory ammo. I recently sold two of 'em to go to a sako, or they'd still be here.:) 3200 is a good scope for the $$. I had them on the tikkas too, although I went 50mm and regretted it.

My only beef with the mag is I found it too short for longer bulllets. The .300wm with partitions was right against the end of the mag, and sometimes would pinch while loading the gun, but the .3006 uses the same mag, so it should have lots of room.

He did the demonstation with another rifle... he told me his boss gave him #### when he did this.... I wonder why:confused:

I have had a few of the Tikka rifles, most recently was the T3 in 300 WSM. It was a fine shooter but I don't like detachable mags, especially plastic ones that are very expensive. It didn't have very much velocity gain over the 06 so I sold it, mostly because of the detachable mag.The mag can't be top loaded and has to be removed to properly load it. I would still have it if it had a hinged floorplate and you could seat the bullets out further than the mag allows. I found it was more accurate when the overall length was longer and loaded single, but who wants to do that in the field. The 300 WSM is a fine caliber, just the mag is a bother to me.

Hey,

I also have the same rifle SS in 30-06 and with a 3200. I use Burris rings/base no problem. This outshoot all guns in my safe.

Had a friend with a 300WSM who bought his rifle with Millett rings and I can attest they are moving back with recoil. He now have Warne Maxima rings no problem.

30-06 range load:
Very accurate with 58.5 gr of H4350
155grA-max
Win primer
neck sized win brass.
OAL: .3330

Took it out to stretch its legs -- surprised the hell outta me how accurate it was.

I think I got a bad batch of ammo from winchester - they shall hear my wrath. The crimpings looked so bad, and compared to Jmasson's federal .303 they looked like absolute garbage.

anyways, with the 150gr powerpoints, Jmasson put 6 shots through an inch and I put another 3 to the left of his hole. We ran outta ammo after that, though. I have pictures of the targets -- we were at 125-130 yards or so (even though the picture says 115!).

The top right hole is when we were sighting it in @ 20 yards. I dont understand the ballistics behind it, but my 130ish yard group is significantly smaller then the 25 yard group. All were shot with pretty much a hot barrel if that matters. I apologize if the image is bad -- its taken from my cellphone.
