Tikka T3 Lite Vs Weatherby Vanguard S2 Whats the difference?

Got both and prefer a Tikka. Tikka has a better trigger, lighter and has a detachable mag. Bolt is alot smoother in my tikka as well. The Tikka's also have a great record in terms of accuracy and reliability. I prefer a lighter rifle, just like a I prefer lighter women. Some guys like heavy rifles and heavy women...to each their own, whatever floats your boat..lol

Are vanguard/howa actions not investment cast? If so no thanks

That right there is one of the lamest reasons not to buy a rifle I have heard yet.

I will take the Vanguard every time. Detachable magazines are not my favorite, so no issue there.
I had a Tikka that was not a great shooter, so it can happen....but rarely does.

My 5 Vanguards are really exemplary performers, and I like the feel of them...nice and solid.
Prefer the wood stocks though.

Regards, Dave.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but weight is a big factor. My last T3 was a .338 WM and it weighed 6.5lbs with Millet mounts and a Leupold M8 2.5x

I've always been told the Howa receiver was forged, but I've never been to the factory to watch.

Edited to add an update:

"In older catalogs 2006,2007,2008, It states that the receiver in the Vanguards are made of forged steel."

"The bolt of the Weatherby Vanguard is and always has been a forging. The receiver has recently changed, but all for the better. The receiver is no longer a forging but an extrusion out of steel barstock. Extruded barstock allow us to machine less material, which maintains more of the strength and rigidity of the product. All in all, providing for a more durable and better looking receiver."
