picked up a 2nd hand Tikka T3 Lite in 6.5x55 swede from a CGNer a month or so ago. Along with the rifle came some once fired Norma brass and Hornady dies. All at a very fair price. Now the T3s have been labled by "some" as low end ho hummers, and to be honest, I was one of the "some". Well I've seen the light, that T3 Lite shoots as well as most custom rifles and with little if any fuss. I'm loading 97 gr Hornady VMax over Varget and useing Rem 260 starting loads (action and brass are plenty strong enough) and was going to increase if needed. That combination shoots into 3/8in at 100yds and 5/8in at 200 yds. Chrony's at 2940 - 2973 over 20 rounds (hand poured). Can't wait to see what it will do to a coyote. If you were wondering what the T3s shoot like, and if mine is any indication, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. They are every bit the bargain that Ruger used to be and a lot more accurate than they used to be as well. bearhunter:eek: :D

those 95 gr. Vmax shoot well out of my 260 Remington, 3315 fps
That's it, Tod? That's IT?!?! Where's the Tikka "plastic" bashing? Are you okay? Did one of your Rem's give you trouble? We're all friends here. You can talk about it... :D :p

truth be told, although they have plastic shrouds, trigger guards, magazines, among who knows what else, they shoot well and have slick actions.

:D

Some dirty rascal has been exposing him to all kinds of Tikka's!:D

Glad to hear that T3 is working for you:D . I agree it was a very accurate rifle and pleasent to shoot as well! Let us know how the coyotes like it!

If you compare by feature, price, accuracy, durability or quality... the Tikka T-3 will place consistently in the top three with all hunting bolt-action rifles made today.

I have been looking at a t3 lite ss in 270 wsm it is a sweet looking rifle but wonder about recoil with that cartridge and caliber combo ? any comments?

I have this exact rifle with a Leupold VXII 3X9 and Optilocks and I really like it. I would say the recoil is comparable to my .30-06.... it's not objectionable to me at all. I've been using 130 gr TSXs @ 3220 fps, these shoot nice, tight little groups out of my T-3.

Just wait for it :D here comes the reply from 'BR' :p

Although the recoil on the 270WSM T3 Lite is not punishing by any stretch I would put it at almost the same as a hot loaded .270. Keep in mind that this is from a rifle that weighs just over six pounds.
I found that the recoil was tolerable but the muzzle lift was a little dramatic for hunting coyotes, follow up shots were slower than I liked. The addition of a muzzle break put the recoil at modest .243 levels and I can now see the bullet strikes in the scope. Follow up or multiple shots are extremely fast now!:)

I suspect the recoil will be easily manageable. I also have a Tikka T3 Lite in .270 Win. This is by far the best hunting rifle I have ever used or seen. The felt recoil seems significantly less than the Remington 710 (a much heavier rifle) in .270 that I was replacing.
