whats your most accurate 223 factory load in your tikka ?.....i have a nice aftermarket bell and carlson stock on a tikka t3 and it sports a very decent burris scope...i have checked screws on scope and stock and tried 4-5 different brands of factory ammo still cant get better than 1.25-1.50 groups at a hundred yards....i own 4 tikkas in different calibers and they all shoot under an inch ...help....what do you use/recommend in your tikka ?

Tagged for interest I have one in .223 as well that I haven't had time to bring to range

Got lots of bulk rem .223 55g but sounds like I might be disappointed with the results going by what the OP is saying

My t3x stainless shoots Hornaday 143gr precision hunter into .250" groups.

For real.

Ah #### for some reason I thought this was a 6.5cm thread. Ignore me. Sorry

Have a friend with a Tikka 223. He had to go to heavier bullets. Once he did his groups are tight which I have witnessed. Can't recall for sure but am thinking 70 ish grain bullets. all factory.

As mentioned above bullet weight is important in faster twist barrels. 50-62gr bullets won’t shoot near as tight as premium or match grade bullets of 68gr and above.

Try some 69 gr Federal Gold Medal. I think Hornady also makes a 75 gr match load that should work. If you went with handloads 25 gr of Varget with an 80 gr SMK will work out to 1000 yards.

If the OP is using the factory T3X .223 magazines he will run into OAL issues with most of the long and heavies.
Tikka sh@t the bed when they decided to feed a fast twist, long throated barrel with such a COAL restrictive magazine, there's ways around it but it will cost some money.

The OP’s gun has no bearing on yours. Every firearm may shoot a different load with better or worse accuracy. That said, I can’t help with a factory suggestion as I reload for any hunting or target shooting purposes.

I have a Tikka T3x with a stainless barrel and I am using Federal Gold Match 69 and 77 grain with repeatable sub MOA results. Bulk 55 grain does pretty good for ringing steel but it seems to prefer the heavier stuff. I was at my LGS yesterday and picked up a few boxes to try different loads.

I tried some Sako 55gr, gamehead ammo in my T3 Varmint 223. Nothing better than 1.25". Bought it mainly for the brass which i load with heavier bullets in the 68 to 75 gr range.

I have a T3 with the 8” twist and have the same problem 1.5 -2” groups at 100 yards is pretty disappointing for a rifle like this. Admittedly I have only tried a few brands of ammo, up to 64 grains.

Proof that rifles are individuals. Sako 55s shot good in mine.

Saw a young guy shooting hornady superperformance. Don't know the weight but they were sub .75 inch.

Lapua 69s were hit and miss for me. I blame going back to shift work and too much coffee.

Federal bulk 55s wouldn't do better than 2 inches.

Handload 60g vmax and they shoot so good in 3 tikkas I haven't tried anything else.

If you're shooting factory ammo then twenty-round boxes of a few different bullet weights and brands and groups shot with each should let you find out what your rifle likes.

Reloaders can play with a few variables to tune to a rifle.
