What is available & what have people done to mod a Tikka T3? I wouldn't mind lightening it up a bit & maybe tighten up the grouping a bit. It will be used as a hunting/target gun. Reason I went with tikka was because of the removable mag from factory & I got a good deal on it.

the trigger is actually adjustable. mine is over 2 lbs. just loosen the little screw
I swapped out the trigger spring for a lighter one for range use. It's just about 1 lb, which I thought might fire if bumped or the bolt closed too hard.
Well, since it's a composite stock with a Limbsaver mounted, I pounded it against a concrete floor. Nothing. I then tried slamming the bolt shut trying to induce it to fire. Nothing.
I'll say this, for the cheapest rifle Tikka/Sako makes it's got one hell of a good trigger. Light, crisp, zero creep.
I actually added a bit of weight to mine, in the form of lead shot in a vacuum sealed bag in the butt stock, packed in with foam padding. It improved the balance and reduced recoil a bit also.
I'd suggest spray foaming the stock to reduce that hollow sound in a hunting rifle, although I don't know if the foam may affect the Rubbermaid stock material.

I love my Tikka the way it is. No mods needed. Do you reload? That always tightens groups. I've been getting 5/8" groups with mine. Then I played with the powder charge a little and shrunk the group to .312". I think the T3 is nearly a target rifle in disguise.

you know what , I actually did those test after the adjustment and it did not fire ! also, I added foam and metal rods in the stock to help with recoil.

not surprising seeing as the trigger in the Tikkas is the same one used in the Sako 91 series rifles (S491, M591 & L691), 75's and 85's, A7's, Tikka 595's and 695's. The 75/85's and A7's have the extra bolt release button but the basic trigger is the same. This trigger was first installed in 1990 on very late production AV's.

I added the Lumley Arms pillar bedding kit and recoil lug upgrade from Coretac Solutions to my 338WM T3 SS and my fluted barrel 308 T3 SS, the 338 has a Skinner rear peep sight and an NECG front ramp that I installed as well as Limbsaver and one extended magazine four shots instead of three, the 308 has a Leupold 3-9 x 33 compact light weight scope, they are both in Tikka Forest stocks that I acquired, I sacrificed a little weight gain for the raised rollover cheek piece that I prefer, I also stitched a couple of black nylon velcro closure pouches to the Butler Creek slings so the magazines are always with the rifle. I wanted both as back up lighter weight rifles when I know I am doing some longer hikes. I prefer CRF hinged floor plate rifles Winchester, Brno, Ruger etc. but my shoulders get very uncomfortable with that extra pound or so, at the time these were a relatively inexpensive option, not sure if I would do this at present prices.

Here is my modded t3

Superlight (fluted) McMillan hunters edge, Leupold VX6 3-18x44 in talley lightweigts, B&T lightweight bipod, fluted bolt. Tried a stainless bolt shroud, but a buddy had some failure to fires. Worked well on mine, but cost him a coyote so I switched back to the plastic.

somewhere on the website is an instruction video how to fit.
I would suggest a gun smith. Function is similar to a Mauser safety. Upon applying safety the firing pin gets retracted a few tenths of a mill so the trigger sear can freely engage again if trigger is pulled when safety is on. This must be understood fully otherwise it might not be safe. Same an any firing pin safety I presume.
