So I got this T3 and Optilock bases.. The T3 Optilock base locator pin seems small for the hole in the action. Should this be a snug fit? Is this right or did I get some mis packed bases?

That's the way they make them, unless mine were mis-packaged too.
Not to worry, I tightened the base so that the pin was touching the front part of the hole in the rifle, and I haven't had to change the zero in my rifle since I sighted it in. That was in 2004. It's a strong set-up!

Same with my 2 tikkas and all my Sako m75rifles. Rock solid setup. I prefer the Optilocks. I set up the first back in 1997 on a Sako m75 rifle.....never touched it since.
