Tikka T3 Scope Mount + Eye Relief Question

Greetings! :)

I recently bought a slightly used Tikka T3 Hunter (30-06), and the rifle came with rings installed on it, but no scope.
Added a new Vortex Viper, which the gun shop installed for me, BUT the scope is not close enough to my eye to give a clear view.

Searching through the posts here I am not finding specific enough information regarding any products that can help slide the scope back towards my head by an inch or two...
I am no rifle shooting expert, but is a Picatinny Rail what I need to install now? Is there a product out there that can help me avoid cutting the stock to reduce my length of pull? I really don't wish to alter this beautiful rifle!

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Can you post a picture showing the current set up?
Knowing where the scope bell and the turret saddle are located in relation to the current ring set up will give us a better idea of the problem.

Thanks flyr. I am out of room for my picture quota on CGN apparently. Maybe I can figure something out later on...
The bolt opens easily now (obviously) since the rear ring is just a tad ahead of the groove's end. So, in theory, I can move both rings back by about 1/16". However, I need the scope to get 1" to 1 1/4" closer to my eye, or I have to force my head forward by that much.

That is why I am posting the question to see if anyone has specific experience with the Tikka model, and if a rail can solve the issue.

I just encountered this same problem with a customers browning a-bolt 3006. VX3i 4.5-14x40 Leupold with 2 pc weaver bases and rings would not give him enough rearward Relief same as yourself. I installed a talley 1pc pictinny rail and shortened the rail by about half an inch which allowed for even more rearward relief(really tiny man with short arms) I told him he’d be much better off with a short action youth set up. Anyways problem solved. Cheers.

a few questions in order to understand your settings without a pictures.
how are the rings mounted to the receiver?
a). are they sitting on a picatinny rail like this one? https://sporteque.ca/en/mounts/15355-weaver-extended-multi-slot-tikka-t3x-long-action.html
b). are they mounted on separate base like this one? https://sporteque.ca/en/mounts/15634-weaver-base-pair-tikka-t3.html
c). are they one-piece meaning rings and base are fixed one-piece?
For b and c, you don't have much of choice if you want to keep your scope. You have to discard your rings/mount and buy a new extended rail or an offset rail

I am just curious what type of scope that vortex viper is? I am surprised to know that you cannot shift the scope backward. Usually the scope tube is long enough to have lots of room to play before the front ring hits the scope bell.

Thanks wonksy. Yes, I am stocky and shortish myself. I appreciate your input, and will compare the A-Bolt's dynamics to my T-3 for similarities. :)

Thanks JQIAN. Really appreciate you taking the time to find and post those links!
I have the "b" option.
The scope is a Vortex® Viper Riflescope 3-9x40mm - Dead-Hold BDC so not a long tube at all.
The the front ring, as it sits on the rifle, allows no more room for the tube to move back.
Installing a rail, or perhaps extension rings, (or both?) seem to be my options at this point.

Then I suggest you get a one-piece picatinny rail. Cabelas sells Talley rail for tikka version like this https://www.cabelas.ca/product/72485/talley-one-piece-picatinny-bases
This thing has plenty room for your front ring to move backwards. In you case the position of your back ring doesn't really matter though.

I personally like the choice of c having fix one-piece ring+base like this one https://www.cabelas.ca/product/61363/talley-lightweight-one-piece-1-scope-mounts
because it looks neat, and I don't like the look of picatinny rail having so many useless grooves. But I guess you don't have a choice.

FANTASTIC. THANKS again for your guidance! :)
