Tikka T3 stock torque setting

Hi everyone,

Planning to take the stock off my T3 compact 243 and paint it for my daughter, but after looking through the manual can't find how tight to retorque it. Manual gives no input on this, so maybe it doesn't matter. Am thinking 35 in-lbs front and rear but it sounds like Beretta (tikka distributor) has recommended 51-52 in-lbs according to this post http://www.tikkashooters.com/public_html/gunsmithing/tightening-the-action-screws-on-a-t3/ . This seems like a lot.

Any input?

PS If I dip the stock in muddy girl camo to make my daughter happy, is it worth the #%#$ I'll take from my hunting buddies? I'm thinking yes... Of course, I'm really hoping she'll pick kryptek yeti or something so I can keep using it for coyote season

I don't know about tikka specifically, but the general rule of thumb i've always used is 30-35 in-lbs.

Whut kullor yew choose to wear yer kinch is totally up to you.
Maybe count the turns it takes to remove the retaining devices on said stock and
make a note of it.
Or back the screws one full turn out and use your torqie thing to achieve said
spot and co-ordinate your clicker settings with achieved spawt?
Then write it down.

Or call Tikka and ask them................?

Good and tight has been the standard for action screws forever... it's only been in the last few years that the idea of a torque wrench is necessary. (It isn't)
