Tikka T3 tactical vs CZ 550 Kevlar or rem 700p in 308

5R milspec. But.... it's not all black. I prefer the look myself but if you're looking for a subdued all black rifle it's not for you.

The Tikkas are expensive for the tactical model and I don't like the stock. If I were going that route I'd get a Tikka varmint and then put it in one of those Robertson composite stocks. But again $$$.

I have a CZ527 Kevlar in .223 that I like. Nice rifle. But ultimately for .308 the 5R was my choice. I personally love the looks, and it shoots. I like the 700P but I found when I looked at them that the rifle felt a bit unwieldy. Plus the finish is prone to scratches.

The new Savage rifles in the HS and Macmillian stocks are worth a look as well.

If I wanted a gun to which I neither wanted nor needed to add anything except a scope, I would go for a Tikka Tactcal. Why? I have owned 2 and both were exceptional shooters out of the box and easy to load for. I personally liked the stock, I liked the weight, I liked the look and I liked the results.

Those that begrudge them typically have never used, much less owned one. They are almost twice the price of North American rifles of similar styles (of which there are few direct comparisons) , but they are a fraction of many others such as SIG's and Sakos, yet the results are as good as any.

I've never used or owned one. I checked them out at a gun store. I liked the action and the quality. I hated the stock. It looked like cheap plastic.

Car analogy for you. It could be the best car in the world, if it's ugly sales will be low.

The Sniper Central review showed decent results but nothing fantastic.

Get a remington. The Cz and tikka lack in snazzy aftermarket stuff. None of the rifles mentioned need aftermarket stuff to shoot but you eventually want to pimp it a bit. Other than that it would be tough to say which would shoot better. They are all capable of superb accuracy. The triggers in the cz and tikka are better from the factory but a Jewel in the rem. is the very best.

....like the volkswagen "bug" for example. Ugly, so no-one would buy them. ;)

But anyways, it's not a fashion show - get something that does the job for you and shoot lots.

"The peoples car" had it's place just as the SKS does for firearms. The Tikka is in a higher dollar bracket.

I'd buy the a T3 Varm and drop it into a RCI stock (ours) and if you want to upgrade the trigger then get a CG which is way ahead of a Jewell. There may be a CG to fit the CZ as well. Last I would buy is the 700. You can pimp it all you like but the others are still better quality.
