Other then using them on a Tikka, what other actions could they be used on without cutting the threads off and starting over?

What are the dimensions of a T3 shank? Diameter, length, threads?

OK, did a search on the 'net.
Apparently T3 shanks are 1.000" diameter, 16 t.p.i., and just shy of an inch in length.
1-16 shanks are found on Winchester and Ruger rifles. This has nothing to do with shank length, chamber depth or breech face cuts.
So, yes, T3 barrels could be adapted to some other actions. But lathe work to adjust shank length and chambering will likely be required.

My question is what percentage of perfect fit/headspace of using a Tikka take off on a Tikka action? My luck with correct headspace on Remington take offs onto Remington actions is 0% :(

Most Remington take off barrels that I've swapped over to other Remington receivers have had acceptable headspace. Even the indexing for sights and stampings is almost bang on.

I would expect Tikkas to be very good as well. Their tolerances are very tight

I, too, have had excellent results with headspace being correct when retrofitting R700 and R600 barrels.

Just hasn’t been my experience in the few instances I’ve tried to cheap out. Always end up going with a new barrel even though I might try the used route one more time to see if I can change my average. This time with a Tikka though!

Don't understand your thinking on this.

One thing I do find is that older Remington actions can be hit and miss as far as indexing/headspace goes.

The later, CNC machined barrels/receivers are usually so close, the only time headspace or index will be off, is if they were originally off from the factory.

If you're talking about minimum spec headspace, that's a completely different angle and your chances are slim to nil.

If you're going to cut a new chamber anyway, why go to a new/aftermarket barrel??? Just set back the shoulder on the take off barrel back enough to get it to index properly and cut the existing chamber to the depth/headspace you desire and save $400-$500

They have been on the older 700 actions. If I’m going to drop money on a rechamber then the inside of the barrel becomes very important. Often low round count, nice shiny bores are anything but when you bore scope them. Waste of money, but that’s just my opinion and experience.

In my experience (considerable) a Remington 700 barrel will probably headspace but index with the sights somewhere other than where you want. Tikka or Sako barrels can be adapted to Rugers or Winchesters by using spacers and/or rechambering.
Pre-64 Model 70 Winchesters will index and headspace. In fact, barrels from pre-64 Model 70's will also headspace and index on a Model 54 Winchester. Post 64 barrels will headspace OK but not index. Springfield barrels will headspace and index. P14 barrels will headspace but may not index. Mauser 98's will always headspace but seldom index. If you don't mind doing some machining, almost any barrel can be fitted to almost any action.

Keep this post as reference guys ... it's dead on correct...
