Hey guys~contemplating my first .243, and, my first Tikka. I've been looking at Tikka's site, and a few catch my eye. The T3 Compact, the Varmint (blued) and the Super Varmint. I know Tikka's have a great reputation for accuracy, just wondering who here owns one of these 3 models...and...what you think of it? Only Tikka's in .243 I've found with dealers is the stainless varmint, and the compact.

Any tips re: reloading data for these guns is welcome too. Maximum effect on groundhogs is the goal, but ultimately...coyote once I've got some trigger time with it. I like the weight of heavy barrels when shooting...lighter barrels when carrying. lol Who doesn't?

I have Tikka Varmint in .243 and I think it`s a great rifle. There are a lot of threads on here about them. Here are a couple quick pics of my last range outing.
The two three shot groups I was testing 85gr speer BTSP`s and the one ragged hole pic is a 5 shot group of 70gr Nosler BT`s.
Not sure where you are located but if you are around Ottawa maybe you could try mine...

I have the .204 in the T3 Varmint. Great Gun. Added some lead shot to the buttstock for a little more 'solid feel' and now I really like it.

Plastic stock is junky... but the rest is worth the price of admission.

I just installed a B&C M40 stock on mine. Haven`t shot it since but the stock feels way nicer, more solid than the original Tupperware stock.

Thanks for the input guys. Not really "needing" a .243 for groundhogs...more of a want. :) I've seen how effective they are at long range on them though. Quite the step-up from .223. (as much as I like that caliber)
