In order to improve accuracy and positioning, what would be a good alternative to the factory tikka t3 varmint stock? McMilan seems too expensive especially those with a cheek riser.

Should I consider a MDT chassis?

Would a B&C be an upgrade? Are there any aftermarket integrated cheek riser that can be installed in a butt stock other then a tac pro?

What are you recommendations for a stock upgrade that would improve accuracy, below 1000$. Im not sure about the chassis VS stock dilemma.

Buddy just put a Boyds Pro varmint with the adjustable comb on his T3- really nice stock with all sorts of options - and inexpensive... pillar it, bed it, and still well under $500.

The B&C stock would be an upgrade over the original stock as it has an aluminum bedding block. If you're thinking about a chassis and your budget ceiling is 1000 then you've got options from MDT for any of their chassis including their new ESS, which looks pretty good, including an adjustable stock. You could also get a Cadex field chassis (add your own AR stock and grip) for well under 1k.

The nice thing about a chassis is that you'll be able to use the double stack AI style magazines rather then the stock single stack tikka mags for increased capacity and longer bullet overall length.

I love the Tikka rifles, I have a T3 Sporter in 260 and a T3 Tactical in 308, both are great shooters. The Sporter I dropped into a Cadex Competition last year, it was a great chassis but I could not get the right feel, the ergonomics didn't agree with me so I went back to the factory stock, which to be honest I really love. The Tactical sits in a Boyds Pro Varmint with their factory installed adjustable cheek piece. I like this stock as well, it is no Sporter stock, but it is better for me than the Chassis. Don't take these comments the wrong way, I think the chassis are great, you get a lot of adjustments, AI mags, and if it matters the "Tacticool" factor as well.

I just bought two CDI bottom metal kits for the T3 from Gary at Big Horn Sales, these are going to be inletted into the factory Sporter and the Boyds stocks so I can then have the preferable AICS mags.
