Hey all.
I was wondering if you can help out an old fella with the procedure (if one exists) to remove the Tikka T3X CTR cheek riser. It seems to be fixed in place, but I gotta believe that there is a clean way to remove it. I see some references on the web that there is a plug on top of the cheek riser that can be accessed, but nothing more than that. I can see some sort of plug that is recessed, but there isnt anything that I can grip to remove. Anyone know of way to cleanly remove the cheek riser?

So I have done this and replaced mine with an adjustable one. Total removal will require you to fill a screw hole.

I pop the plug out with either a sharp knife or pick tool. Then remove the screw, They are sometimes loose and sometimes tight but for the most part just pop off. Downside is you're left with a screw hole right in the top dead center of the buttstock.

Cheers,
B

Groovy! Thank Bdb, I was thinking it had to be something like that. I'll give it a shot this week. I was hoping to have a nice clean install for my TacPro cheek riser to make the rifle even more of a tack driver.

The little plug can be removed with a pick tool as mentioned. If it gives you any trouble, I would suggest trying to pry incrementally from two points separated by 180 degrees.

Solved

Thank you '1ShotKing' and 'bdb.hunting'. You guys are great. It worked like a charm.

A sharp pointy utility knife did the trick to begin to pry up the plug. Mine was not glued in and was easy to pry up.

Once the plug is pried up it exposes a Philips screw that is easily removed with appropriate screw driver.

Once the screw is removed, the check riser can be pried up off the butt stock with your fingers.
