I see there are diff. options, rings right on receiver, one piece bases, two piece base, and so on. i am shooting at 40-200 yards, So I probably will go with a low power variable scope 1.5 x 6? or 1 x 4. what is my best mounting options? just want to keep it simple. I won t have to worry about objective clearance with these types of scopes. and I see these scopes are not nearly plentiful to buy?

I like Talley one piece for your application. Everything shooting related is hard(er) to come by since Covid.

Talley one piece rings would work nicely. If theres a chance you might be removing the scope I’d get a rail. MDT makes a really nice rail made in Canada for a very reasonable price.

I have several Tikkas. I use Burris Xtreme Tactical Steel Two Piece Bases (this is the exact printing on the package), part # 410630 and Burris Zee Rings 1" Low, part # 420083. The rings are available in varying heights so makes it very easy to get perfect cheek weld. I`ve found this set up to be solid and durable as heck, generally readily available, very reasonably priced, nice and trim and neat looking, has proven itself over the years. My guns are not safe queens and get used. Personally I have never seen the need for anything more exotic or expensive and I hate the vertically split design ( just too darn ugly). JMO :)

Each base has the typical 2 screw mount system and has 2 slots each to allow some latitude in order to obtain proper eye relief. The rings are the basic picatinny / weaver cross bolt design.

Just did a little research on the Talley rings, I really like the one piece design. Only problem I can see is there is no way to allow for any fore and aft movement of the scope when mounting to allow for proper eye relief. I realize that this is totally dependant on the scope itself, ie: how long/short it is and how much space there is between the turrets and the obj. bell and the eye piece. So depending on the scope you are trying to mount the Talleys look like a pretty viable option. Reasonably priced too.

fixed 4x talk about keeping it simple....do you see any out there? I have found a leopold 4x

I bought three of them at Fishing World
Simmons 8 point 4x32
Have them on my 204 Ruger, 22 Mark II and 17 Hmr
These are less than $70 and offer great eye-relief and clear clear glass

You should try looking through and using a real scope. You’ll quickly discover just how terrible the Simmons actually are.

i have both Warne and tally rings on my t3’s. The warne use the t3 groove system and the tally screw into the flat top of the receiver. Because the receiver doesn’t line up the tally rings when you screw them down like a Remington receiver there is play and you might tighten them down straight, or not. I put mine on not very tight, put the scope on to straighten them out, then took off the scope and tightened the rings to the receiver. They work well and look nice but I think it’s better to have rings that work with the t3 grooved system. A rail works well with the tikka drilled holes I also have one with a rail screwed into the receiver isn’t that the intended purpose of the drilled holes?
