Hi guys.

I just received my brand new Tikka T3X Stainless laminated (.308) which will be for target shooting. Nothing serious, but busting stuff at 200-300 yards should bring me lot of fun.

But for me, the look and feel of the riffle is as important as its precision. That riffle is BEAUTIFUL but I have to say that this plastic trigger assembly makes me grind my teeth. For a 1500$ riffle, I cannot believe that those are shipped with this toy looking trigger. All my airsoft guns feels better for god sake. I know I know it is light and should hold up ... but the feel of it remembers me of a 75$ bb gun. I HATE that trigger assembly enough to make me regret my purchase.

** Edit: After few reply from, I correct myself here. I meant the trigger guard ... the trigger assembly is fine.

Do not get me wrong though, I LOVE the riffle ... but that trigger assembly has to go.

I saw that there are few options online for third party parts, any of you guys ordered one and feel like sharing their experience? Also if you have options for the sling bolt let me know, there are plastic as well and would upgrade those if there are not too expensive.

Thanks guys!

I think he means the trigger guard and magazine possibly...

I don't think the trigger or trigger assembly has any plastic...

and plastic sling swivel studs ? Never have I seen any of those...

Trigger guard is some kind of polymer, as is the magazine. The trigger assembly itself has no plastic in it that I am aware of, nor do the sling studs have any plastic either, these are definitely metal. It would be nice if Tikka provided these rifles with a metal trigger guard, but after having owned several of these rifles I have never broken one, and the magazines are simply the smoothest feeding detachable magazine system that I am aware of.

Yeah I meant the trigger guard. Sorry about that. Wonder where my head is these days with that bogus curfew haunting us here in Quebec :(

Anyone of you changed it for an alloy third party part?

When it comes to weight saving then you will not beat a T3 Lite/Varmint plastic magazine/trigger guard combined coming in at around 73 grams. Now that hunters need to save every ounce because lack of strength?
I change all my T3 rifles to Atlasworx AICS mag systems and we have fitted hundreds to customers stocks. One big advantage of aluminium floor plates is that one can torque the action screws to better levels without distortion. Saying that I have only seen a few broken/bulged plastic floor plates.
