I have been searching the interweb for a definitive answer about the difference between a Tikka Tactical vs CTR barrel. I know that the CTR barrel is a slightly lighter (Medium) profile, and the thread pitch on the tactical is M18X1. Word on the inter web is that the Tactical is using the exact same barrel as the TRG, which is a pretty amazing barrel, however the CTR information is not as clear. Having owned several CTR's and a TRG, I can't say that CTR's are as consistently accurate as the TRG, which was amazingly accurate with all ammunition brands and weights. My guess is that the CTR barrel is not as good as the tactical barrel, aside from the profile difference and the 5/8x24 thread pitch. Also, I am aware that the new Tikka T3X TAC A1 is just a CTR in a Tikka chassis, so I am talking about the legacy tactical model which is still made and predated that CTR. Educated thoughts?
