I just got my first gun (kinda, I had to return a used consignment since it was a lemon lol) really excited about it and got it for a smoking deal from Cabela’s. Issue is I’m hearing because of my gun weight, it might kick like a mule and I will more likely have a hard time re-focusing on my target after a shot. I was hoping that some of you guys might have experience with clamp-on muzzle breaks and could point me in the right direction here. Thanks lots!

Bought a clamp-on for my Tikka 300wm. With the clamp-on I got it was custom made for my barrel. Had to send in my precise measurements for my rifle. And I wasn’t disappointed, it shot really nice and the Tikka (as usual) didn’t disappoint either, it shot around .75 with the brake. Got it from Witt Machine &Tool.

Since the trend today is for rifle makers to build rifles with the lighter-is-better philosophy, recoil is understandably higher. And the bigger the case the more the recoil is going to be felt.

Another option for you is to get a laminated stock for the rifle, which would add a few pounds of weight to your gun. And change the balance favourably too, at least in my opinion. Or do both.
