I don't think that winter is ever going to leave these parts, sigh. Think I need a pick me up, a new pistol would probably do the trick. I do not own a 45. Every collection needs one at least. Been researching on CGN dealer sites and have come up with 2.
Ruger sr 1911
Kimber custom ll stainless ll
Both appear to be quite acceptable, I know that the price is about double between them. At this point in collecting I'm leaning towards quality and resale value(like thats going to happen lol).
Any info or feedback would be greatly appeciaated.
What have you got and why do you like it?

thanks

I would go for the Ruger.. imo. I find Kimbers a bit over-priced for what your getting. The Kimbers also dont provide a stainless barrel(except on very high end models)and only come with one mag...

Pounds for dollar +1 for the SR1911. As many wrote in numerous threads, if you choose to go with the SR1911, you better hand pick it.

Resale value? Unless you see this as some sort of piggy bank, in both cases you will get less than what you paid for.

Have a Ruger sr1911, for the price you can't go wrong. Are there nicer, for sure, are there worse, no question about it.

I would choose the Ruger over the Kimber. If you want to move up in price from there, either Colt or Dan Wesson would be my pick. The S&W E-Series may also be worth considering.

I have an SR1911 I bought used on EE. Well made, and shoots as well as my other 1911s (Remington, Colt). Great value an better resale IMO. Internally - SR1911 is a series 70, Kimber is Series 80 but their series 80 is not the same as Colt series 80. It's cheaper and easier I'm told to get trigger job done on 70 vs 80. Kimbers - one mag, Ruger - 2 mags.

Unless you're married to the idea of stainless what about something in between price wise? Namely an STI Trojan. Superb gun with a great trigger.
