I agree, it's long overdue, what you described makes me sick also. But if the gov. did anything the 1st nations would put up roadblocks and shoot at cops.

If you and I put a road block up to protest the over hunting or anything else and even side gun we would be shot dead or in jail within hours! EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL is that not what canada is all about?!?!?

First Nations come first with respect to Fish and Wildlife harvest for food and cerimonial purposes. I really wouldn't have an issue with this IF:

A) the harvest was reported (as in numbers) so organizations like the BCWF could better manage the resources. Right now it's a guess as to what is harvested (numbers, ###, etc.) and then we (resident hunters/fishers and Guide Outfitters) divy up the remainder of the allocation.

B) the harvest was based on whether or not the resource is in good enough shape to support it. If a resource was deemed in trouble then all harvesting would stop until such time as the resource has rebounded and can once again support a harvest. Just because the salmon are running does not mean there are large enough numbers to support a harvest.

C) the food and cerimonial harvests were not being sold for profit.

There are of course other issues but I see these as some of the big ones.

as for lunch and me being quiet....obviously you dont know me very well atall

Oh to be a fly on that wall!!

As much as this is an outrage, the reason they fill the reefer with fish, is because some A-Hole buys them. I work with guys that were PO'd a few years back when the "Fraser river chicken" went from $10 to $15 a fish.

I said spend $45 and go catch your own you dumb ass!!!

i don't care if an Indian shoots a moose or whatever every now and then but 17 moose between 3 people is way out of hand

I agree everyones entitled to food and the sport of hunting, BUT when you find a cow moose that the hind quarters have been rounded off and the nose and tongue gone you hafta be a little disgusted with it, I have only seen 1 like this and reported it, nothing happened about it, 1 thing that does happen every summer and is a PISSOFF is in mo-town BC proper name: morice town, there are signs on the road salmon for sale, now it is not against the law for a 1st nations person to sell salmon BUT it is illegal for us to BUY that salmon and the DFO sets up just down the road and nails tourists? how the phuck does this work again I missed something here?
