Time for some new rattling horns

First you have to catch, or kill the deer:p ............then take a saw and cut them off. Pretty simple eh!!!:D

   ;)

Ok, I killed the deer and cut off the skull cap. But I thought most people broke the antlers off so the end looks like a shed. Not that it matters...I just thought that's what most people did.

LOL, :D Some folks cut the eye guards flush with the main beam, not to tear their hands up. Drill holes near the base of the main beams for a lanyard to connect the 2 sides. Also if tines are long , you can trim the sharp points back a bit. :)

X2

Take Levi's advice.

When you catch your hand rattling and squeel like a girl, it doesn't bring them in.

just mount the whole thing on top of a bicycle helmet and wear it all through the winter, horns should fall off in the spring!

:D
I like this idea the best by far...I'm pretty impatient though so I'll just break out the saw.

The set I picked is from a nice buck I shot about 8 years ago. I've never seen a buck come in so fast and aggressive...it was great! Seems fitting that those antlers get the job. ;)

I've never heard or read anything about antlers not being as authentic sounding the older they get....though it does seem to make sense.

I'm inclined to believe that success in calling is more dependent on the responsiveness of the bucks and not the difference b/t fresh and dried antlers. But I'm no expert... (please refer to my first post). ;)

Over the years I have read that antlers dry and do not sound the as same as the real thing. Some say you should soak them in water to get away from the dry sound. I have used them without soaking with good results. The one safety tip is to cut the sharp ends off. There was a picture of a hunter in a bow mag that fell onto the horns he was carrying with the horn still stuck in his side just missing the kidney. I find that two from the same side are easier to rattle with.
