Time to buy a new gun - maybe an AIA M10?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

The holiday season has been good to me, so i've decided it's time for me to pick up a new gun. Who knows if i'll actually have time to shoot it but it'll be there when i want to right? ;)

Anyway my intended use is sort of a versatile gun for walking, driving, and quadding in the bush that'll be good for your odd angry predator, or if i come across a deer in season, or as a survival gun, or just for some spontaneous target shooting. The main features i'm looking for:

- Tough, rugged design
- Reliable action
- .308 calibre
- 5 to 10 rd. detachable mag
- Iron sights, but scopeable without gunsmithing

I've been taking a good hard look at the Australian International Arms M10 sport, as it seems to fit the bill and i used to shoot an old enfield on .303 brit and it was a good gun. So i'd like to hear from anyone who has an M10 - what your overall impression is, whether it's a reliable gun and how well it shoots.

Also i want to keep my options open so if anyone has suggestions on another gun that has the features i'm after let me know!

These have been discussed quite extensively, with reports on the shooting qualities of the different models. Apart from being on the heavy side, they seem to be good shooters. Of course, apart from the caliber, a sported Lee Enfield would meet all of your critieria for about 20% of the cost of an AIA.

Go for it.

If you're getting one for walking...get one in a bundle with gym membership ;)

Mine already scored first wt last fall. I also scoped it but did not make it to the range yet... Scope rail came with mine (check with vendor!) and got on really easy.

How about a Savage Model 14 Euro Classic ?

Online at SIR Mailorder for $711 as opposed to the $799 for the AIA.

Comes in a wood stock, iron sights, Accutrigger, and pre-drilled for scope mounts. Can't go wrong.....

I also considered Model 10FCM Sierra

But if you consuder mounts etc., it will hardly beat M10, anyway. And none of them has a cromed barrel and chamber (M10 has mag followers also, doono why ;))
